Last night, Central Catholic defeated Woodland Hills in a dominant victory with a final score of 43-7.

The game started hot out the gate as Central would march down the field in dominant fashion and score a TD & two point conversion in about four minutes.

Following that, the Wolverines would strike as well on their first drive with a TD catch and run by Deontae WIlliams.

The Vikings followed up that drive with another TD by Elijah Faulkner.

Both teams would end their next drives with throwing interceptions.

However, when the Vikings stopped Woodland Hills in their tracks, Jacob Sassic scored for the Vikings to help extend their lead by 14.

And the scoring wouldn’t stop there as QB Payton Wehner found himself another long passing TD to Peter Gonzalez.

Then we would hit the half with a 22 point lead by the Vikings. Coming out of the half Woodland Hills offense would again stall out and the Vikings took advantage again with a Vernon Settles 46-yard screen pass TD.

To finish off the scoring Wehner would have his fourth passing TD of the night and he sent it to Settles again for a back of the endzone grab.

After this score in the third quarter there were no other scores, and the game would end on a Jaden Garfenhire interception for the Vikings allowing them to kneel for the win.

However, the takeaway has to be the win which is head coach Ryan Lehmeier’s first win as the program’s HC.

“There are a lot of emotions right now,” Lehmeier said. “I got here in February and a lot of hard work went into this…I just couldn’t be more proud of the kids…and this was a lot of hard work shown over the last couple of weeks.”

The thing that the coach was most proud of from his team tonight was the effort.

“The effort and physicality…we wanted to be more physical tonight and I thought we played with some good pace,” Lehmeier said.

The Vikings find themselves outside the state of PA next week as they head to Ohio to take on St. Ignatius while Woodland Hills will stay at home to take on Gateway.
