The Pittsburgh Central Catholic Vikings secured a spot in the state playoffs with a dominating 42-7 win over the North Allegheny Tigers in the 6A WPIAL Finals.
PCC showed its dominance early with a TD by Jayden Alexander on the opening kickoff. Antonio Difatta made the extra point, and the Vikings took a quick 7-0 lead.
The game, which took place at Pine-Richland on Nov 15, continued in PCC’s favor despite the penalties and rain.
This showed with a TD run in by Viking star and junior Roman Thompson. Difatta backed it up with the extra point, and PCC’s lead was extended to 14-0 with 8:08 left in the first quarter.

Despite the lead, PCC was slowed down by a number of penalties, both on the field and on the sidelines. This caused a momentary loss of focus, allowing Tiger Gavin Ust to secure a fumble.

The PCC defense quickly locked back in, however, with a forced fumble caused by UNC commit Ashton Blatt. Junior Nick Curinga picked up the fumble and ran it for a TD. Difatta made the extra point, and the Vikings’ lead was now 21-0.
Shortly after, PCC’s Thompson was able to find the endzone for the second time that night, extending their lead to 28-0 heading into halftime.
Coming out of the locker room, PCC continued their firm grasp of the scoreboard with a sack by Blatt. This forced a turnover and allowed Thompson to secure his third TD of the night. Difatta made the extra point, and the Vikings had now fully run away with the game with a 35-0 lead at the end of the third quarter.
A rain delay caused a momentum lack of action, but a minute to regroup did not seem to help the Tigers as PCC junior Alexander found the end zone for the second time that night to start off the final quarter.

The Vikings now had a 42-0 lead, allowing them to put in their non-starters. This allowed the Tigers to score for the first and only time that night with a TD pass caught by Cameron Kushner on the last play of the game.
PCC won with a final score of 42-7, making them back-to-back 6A WPIAL champions and earning them a spot in the state playoffs.
