Antonio Quinn wasn’t around last year for the Aliquippa State Championship season but hes quickly become acclimated to the history of Quips football. “They have a saying here – we don’t rebuild we just reload.” How true that statement proved true as Quinn, who transferred in from Tennessee rushed for 215 yards and one touchdown as the Quips remained unbeaten with a 40-0 win over rival Beaver Falls. The Win pushes Aliquippa to 5-0, while Beaver Falls slides to 3-2. “The transition has been great, I’m feeling more comfortable each week, and we are still growing as a team, we are playing well physically, but need to get better mentally – we need to cut down on the mistakes and get better each week.”

Vernon Redd opened the scoring for the Quips, scoring two touchdowns on short runs, while Aliquippa’s defense put the clamps down on the Tigers offense taking a 14-0 lead into halftime. In the third quarter Quinn started off the second half explosion for the Quips with a 25 yard touchdown run, and from there the Quips never looked back. Said senior player Isaiah Towler “This was a statement game for us defensively, we are very hungry this year, we lost a lot of players from last year and we feel like people still underestimate us.” On the game’s opening drive Beaver Falls drove all the way down to the Aliquippa’s one yard line but two personal fouls moved the ball all the way back to the 31 yard line, and that was the closest the Tigers would get to any scoring threat on the night. We week we are trying to prove ourselves, we need to keep working hard and get better each week” said Towler. Aliquippa now moves on to play Hopewell, while Beaver Falls plays Uniontown.
