Quips Hayes scores three times to drop Montour

On Friday night, the Aliquippa Quips defeated the Montour Spartans 42-18.
Aliquippa running back Tikey Hayes rushed for two touchdowns in the first quarter. After the game, Hayes said, “We knew it was going to be a rough game, but when we figured them out I feel like we did excellent.”

Hayes would pick up his third touchdown of the game in the second quarter, but Montour quarterback Jake Wolfe found Caleb Platz with just 14 seconds left until halftime to make the score 28-12 with Montour trailing going into the third quarter.

Platz would score again in the third quarter to make it a 10 point game, but this was the closest Montour would get, as Aliquippa’s John Tracy would score a touchdown shortly after to make the score 34-18, Aliquippa.

Aliquippa would add on one more touchdown before this game ended on a 4th and 20 pass from Quentin Goode to Demarkus Walker with 7:50 left in the game to make it 42-18. Aliquippa would go on to win by this score.

The Montour Spartans suffer their first defeat of the season as they fall to 3-1, and they will host Ambridge next Friday. The Aliquippa Quips stay undefeated as they improve to 3-0 and they will travel to West Allegheny next Friday.
