Rochester rolled past OLSH Saturday afternoon at Moon high school to improve their record to 4-1 on the season.

“People forgot about us. We had six starters out when we lost to Union, although that is no excuse,” said Rochester head coach Gene Matsook. “We’ve got healthy, and the kids played a great game today in all three phases.”

The Rams came out the gate and scored on their first three possessions to take a 20-0 lead into the locker room.

Sal Laure scored on runs of seven and four yards while also scoring on a 46-yard pass from quarterback A.D. Azulay.

Azulay then extended the Rams lead to 26-0 as he intercepted Neimiah Azeem and returned it 80 yards for a touchdown 57 seconds into the second half.

“We were physical and on point today on defense,” said Matsook. “We played the pass well outside of one play. Outside of that, I don’t think we had an error on our defense at all.”

OLSH was able to get a touchdown on a fourth-and-thirteen when Azeem threw a 53-yard touchdown pass to Dereon Greer.

Rochester would answer back in the fourth quarter thanks to Laure’s fourth touchdown of the game on a 3-yard run with 7:04 to play.

Rochester will try and keep their momentum going when they host Fort Cherry this Friday night.

” I always tell our guys that there is a 24-hour rule around here,” Matsook concluded. “I told them to enjoy this week, but then it’s back work Monday and getting ready for our next opponent.”

OLSH will try and rebound when they travel to Union Area.

“We have to get better,” said OLSH head coach Dan Bradley. “I thought we did some things right, but we played too inconsistently at times. We had opportunities to make plays earlier, didn’t do their blitz well, and played catch up from there. Now we’re going to find out how we’ll respond to adversity.”
