In a game billed as two top teams from the WPIAL Class 4 A the visiting South Fayette Lions quickly showed why some are mentioning them as one of the elite teams in the WPIAL. On the arm of Junior quarterback Naman Alemada the lions scored on the opening drive and never looked back defeating Blackhawk 34 – 14 Friday night. “We wanted to start off hot, my receivers were open, the line gave me time to make plays, plus they opened up holes for the run game, it made it easy for me to make plays. We are getting hot at the right time, this was a big game for us we heard all the talk about how they were undefeated at home, and how we were coming to lay Beaver County football.” Alemada threw for four TD passes on the night, showing football followers in Western PA why he is one of the hot recruits in the class of 2021 in helping South Fayette stretch their record to 5-1 overall, while staying undefeated in conference play at 3 – 0.

Blackhawk’s defense tried to keep the game close, as Marques Watson- Trent had another remarkable game for the Cougars intercepting Alemada twice and returning both for touchdowns, Watson-Trent also blocked two kicks for the Cougars to keep them in the game until the early 4th quarter. But the Blackhawk offense struggled for most of the night not being able to take advantage of the other turnovers as the South Fayette defense rose to the occasion all night. Said junior player Shay Aitken “We had some guys injured, it was time for some of us to step up, we worked hard in practice all week, it was a great job all around. We had to be physical tonight coming here to play, we had to play our game, we knew if we could do that we would be ok.” South Fayette returns home to play a very good Knoch team, who is 5-1 overall, while Blackhawk goes on the road to play a 4-2 New Castle team who is coming off a big win against South Park.
