This 2A bracket is heating up as the final four teams are all the top four seeds. This semifinal matchup is set to be a close battle as the number two seeded Beaver Falls Tigers will take on the three seeded Sto-Rox Vikings.
The Vikings finished the season 7-2, with a 6-0 conference record. While Beaver Falls went 8-1 with a 7-0 conference record.
This playoff season the Tigers have scored 52 points in their only playoff game, however Sto-Rox hasn’t allowed a point yet as they’ve shut out their first two opponents.
This matchup however is a battle of the two starting QBs.
Sto-Rox has been their electric left handed quarterback Josh Jenkins. This season he completed 62% of his passes, has thrown for 2,272 yards, averaged 18.3 yards/pass and 30 touchdowns. He not only has helped this team win five games by 30+ points, he helped contribute to an 82-7 victory over Charleroi.
While for Beaver Falls they have all-time Beaver Falls passing leader Jaren Brickner. This season he has thrown for 1,628 yards and 13 touchdown passes. He provides a dual threat persona on the field. He has run for 420 yards and nine rushing touchdowns. However, Brickner has something Jenkins does not and that is a WPIAL title. Brickner that season was first team all-conference, and an all-state selection.
Both teams also have a dominant rushing attack. Beaver Falls has six rushers with 200+ yards rushing this season and also have 34 rushing touchdowns. While Sto-Rox has five rushers with 100+ yards and 17 rushing touchdowns.
So, with vengeance in their blood and receipts to cash, Sto-Rox is looking to redeem themselves after last season’s semi-final exit to the same team they face in 2 nights time while beaver falls looks to repeat history and win their second straight 2A WPIAL championship.
