Industry – Jaymar Pearson rushed for 159 yards and three touchdowns as Sto-Rox rolled past Western Beaver 41-0 Saturday afternoon.

“We came out and played well,” said Sto-Rox head coach Laroi Johnson. “We executed our game plan. I’m proud of our kids.”

The Vikings showed no signs of rust after getting a forfeit win over Seton-LaSalle last Friday.

Sto-Rox scored on their first three possessions to build a 21-0 lead after a quarter.

“That was big to come out like that,” said Johnson. “The weather was wet and muddy. We needed to come out and establish our tempo, and the ground game is huge as we continue to move forward.”

Pearson scored on a 7-yard run following a blocked punt to break the ice 2:04 into the game.

Josh Jenkins then threw touchdowns passes of 28 yards to Deigo Ellis and 22 yards to Jaymont Green-Miller.

Jenkins completed 14-of-18 passes for 240 yards and three touchdowns.

“Josh came out and made great decisions today. I was proud of them,” said Johnson. “He’s starting to understand the offense with this being his third year. He’s making our offense work.”

The Vikings enacted the mercy rule in the third quarter when Pearson scored 12 and 83 yards on runs.

He rushed for 93 yards on only three second-half attempts.

“Pearson is a special player,” said Johnson of Pearson. “He gets downhill quick and strong. I give him all the credit in the world. He’s a D1 prospect and a big part of our team.”

Sto-Rox capped the scoring early in the fourth quarter when Jenkins threw an 18-yard touchdown to Terry Booth.

The Vikings recorded their third shutout and limited the Golden Beavers to 129 yards of offense.

“We put together a good game plan on defense,” said Johnson. “As the season goes on, you learn and gel together. Once you start coming together as a unit, you start understanding each other. That makes you better.”

Thad Gray led Western Beaver with 47 yards on 15 carries while completing one pass for 24 yards. Tyson Florence added 20 yards on 14 attempts.

Sto-Rox will look to keep rolling next week when they travel to Brentwood.

“It’s about taking this season one game at a time,” Johnson concluded. “It’s all about the small things and making sure guys are willing and able to correct their mistakes moving forward.”
