Thomas Jefferson got the ball to start the game. After they got to midfield they ran the ball twice and after a personal foul they were at the Central Valley 31. After that the drive stalled after a penalty and a sack.

Central Valley started their first drive at their own 30 yard line. After 2 runs. Ameer Dudley threw the ball deep and connected a beautiful pass to Jawon Hall down to the Thomas Jefferson 17 yard line. That drive also stalled but it did result in points with a 34 yard field goal by Ethan Ott. That made the score 3-0 Central Valley.

Thomas Jefferson had another nice drive going. Preston Zandier played a big role in this drive who had 2 catches which were 13 and 14 yards. After the second one they were at the Central Valley 9. He almost had the touchdown catch but it was a little out of reach. They ended up going for it on fourth down and didn’t convert giving the ball back to Central Valley.

Central Valley struggled on that drive and punted it away. Thomas Jefferson started with excellent field position at the Central Valley 33. On the third play of the drive Dylan Mallozzi ran it in from 5 yards out giving Thomas Jefferson a 7-3 lead with 7:44 in the second quarter.

Before the first half ended Thomas Jefferson extended their lead when Shane Stump connected with James Martinis for a 15 yard touchdown pass which made the score 14-3 at halftime.

Central Valley got the ball to start the second half but went 3 and out. The next drive Thomas Jefferson took complete control of the game. Mallozzi had several carries and would eventually find the end zone on one of those runs from 11 yards out. Thomas Jefferson’s run game dominated this game. “We had to be physical, we had to control the line of scrimmage, and that was our chance to win the game and that’s what we did” said Coach Cherpak.

After that Central Valley got the ball back and started at their own 42 yard line. They got into Thomas Jefferson territory on a 15 yard penalty and later in the drive after a pass to Jawon Hall they were at the 20 yard line. They got another first down at the 7, but after that the drive stalled unfortunately a pass was completed but it fell just short at the 1 yard line. Thomas Jefferson’s defense dominated in this game as well. “We held them in check in terms of big plays and that was the difference” said Coach Cherpak. Coming into the game Central Valley was averaging 40 points per game on offense.

Thomas Jefferson’s last drive of the game started at their own 1 yard line. The drive lasted about 10 minutes and featured several big runs. Eventually it was capped off by Dylan Mallozzi on a 12 yard run. Mallozzi had a big night he had 20 carries for 156 yards and 3 touchdowns.

The final score ended up being 28-3 Thomas Jefferson. Both Quarterbacks had decent nights. Shane Stump was 8 of 15 for 160 yards. Ameer Dudley had nearly 100 yards passing.

Next week Thomas Jefferson hosts Laurel Highlands and Central Valley travels to Hopewell.
