The Thomas Jefferson Jaguars continued their undefeated season with a dominating 35-0 win over the Clearfield Bison. With the victory, the Jaguars moved on and will face off against Lampeter-Strasburg in the 4A Semi Finals.
Thomas Jefferson took over on on each side of the ball this afternoon, starting off the game with a three and out, followed by a long touchdown. Cincinnati baseball commit, Luke Kosko threw a deep ball to Brayden White who caught it and ran it in for a 57 yard score.
“We knew we had to jump on them early and get some big plays,” Thomas Jefferson Coach Bill Cherpak said. “When we saw them playing zero coverage against Brayden, that was pretty exciting. “He’s just a player you can’t do that against. We needed him to make plays and he did.”
The Jaguars forced a fumble and got the ball right back. Clearfield forced a punt, but quickly threw an interception to White on defense. That put them into the red zone and on fourth down, the Bison forced a fumble, but Trent Miller recovered in the end zone to score again.
Clearfield started to put a drive together, including 11 offensive plays, but they got sacked and gave the ball right back to the Jaguars. The Kosko-White connection was able to score again, this time from 51 yards out.
Thomas Jefferson once again got a turnover on defense with a sack on Clearfields quarterback. They put together a long drive that was capped off by a pass from Kosko to running back Tyler Eber on the screen for a 19 yard touchdown.
Clearfield drove down to inside the five before halftime. With six seconds on the clock, Carter Freehand rolled out and hit Cooper Ryan, but Thomas Jefferson makes a big open field tackle after the catch to prevent the Bison from getting on the board before the half.
Clearfield opened the half with a three and out on defense, but fumbled once again. Thomas Jefferson drove down the field and Eber scored a two yard touchdown. That turned on the running clock and the Jaguars were able to run down the clock and win 35-0.
“It’s the fifth time we’ve been to this round,” Clearfield Coach Myles Caragein said. “This is a great group, an undefeated season, it’s tough especially with the schedule we had. We played some really good opponents this year that were in the playoffs that went deep. I couldn’t be happier for these guys. It’s a great year. Yes it’s a disappointment today with the outcome, but these guys have fought and they are fun to be around.”
