South Park came in with a 7-4 record looking to go in to Knoch High School and knock off the 8-3 Knoch Knights in the first round of the 3a district playoffs.

The First Quarter did not offer much action with South Park receiving the ball to start the game. The Eagles drained 9 minutes off the clock and drove all the way to the red zone but turned it over on downs. Pinned deep in their own territory the Knights punted to end the Quarter after two combined drives between both teams. But with 3 seconds left on the clock South Parks running back Eric Doerue scored his first TD of the night to put the Eagles on top to end the first.

The second quarter had a lot more action than the first starting it off with the Eagles rough and tumble run first approach. It would be the Knights that answered the score to end out the first quarter with a 1 yard rush by Ethan Alwine. The PAT was blocked due to a missed block on the right side of the offensive line. That momentum carried right over to the next drive South Park had marching down the field capped off by another Eric Doerue Touchdown. The teams exchanged punts until the half.

Coming out of the half Knoch was trying to keep it a close game as they marched down the field to tie the ball game up at 14 with a Kaden Spencer TD from Codi Cullen. As the momentum swung back in favor of the Knights South park had to answer back doing it the way that worked all game for them by running the ball. AJ D’agostino rushed for a 20 yard score to put the Eagles back on top.On the next drive the Knights were faced with a decision on 4th and 5 at their own 45 go for it or punt but there was a surprise fake punt that Codi Cullen ran for 10 yards to convert and kept the drive alive. It was all for not as they turned the ball over on downs deep in Eagle territory.

To start the 4th Quarter Kaden Kostelnik booted a 34-yard field goal to put the game to a two-possession game at 24-14. After punting the ball this where the game really started to get away from the Knights as Eric Doerue would score his third rushing TD of the night to widen their lead to 31-14. More of the same results came from the Knight offense most of the 4th quarter stalling out and punting it back to South Park. The final nail in the coffin was yet another TD score by Doerue count not one not two but four on the night putting this game out of reach at 37-14 through the mid way point of the 4th quarter. The Knights would attempt to make a come back but only was able to score one TD that being a TD courtesy of Brady Pflugh the two point conversion was denied by the putting a cap on the game.

The victorious South Park Eagles will play East Allegany next Friday at 7pm. They have battled already with South Park squeaking out the win 22-16 in week one. As for the Knoch Knights their 8-3 season comes to a close but look for them to be highly competitive next year as well as they are due for a deep playoff push.
