Pittsburgh Central Catholic relied on a punishing ground game and a relentless defense to earn a 21–6 victory over North Allegheny on Friday night. Behind two touchdowns from Roman Thompson and a balanced defensive effort that kept the Tigers out of the end zone, the Vikings controlled the pace from start to finish, improving their record in a statement win over a tough rival.

The first half of the game was characterized by intense defense and limited offensive opportunities. The opening quarter remained scoreless until the final seconds, when Roman Thompson broke through with a powerful rushing touchdown to give Pittsburgh Central Catholic a 7–0 lead.

The second quarter mirrored the first in its defensive grind, as both teams traded punts and struggled to find rhythm on offense. North Allegheny finally capitalized late in the half, with Ethan Maravich drilling a short field goal with 3:36 remaining to cut the deficit to 7–3. Neither side could muster another score before the break, sending both teams into the locker room locked in a hard-fought battle, with Central holding a narrow advantage.

Coming out of halftime, Central wasted no time regaining momentum. Roman Thompson powered through the defense on the opening drive of the third quarter, finishing with a bruising touchdown run that extended the Vikings’ lead to 14–3 with 11:17 remaining. Central kept the pressure on later in the quarter, as Jayden Alexander found the end zone on another rushing score to make it 21–3 with just over four minutes left. North Allegheny put together a promising drive to close the quarter, but the Vikings held firm, carrying a commanding lead into the final period.

North Allegheny finally broke through again in the fourth quarter, settling for a 25-yard field goal from Ethan Maravich with 9:01 remaining to trim the deficit to 21–6. After a series of punts, the Tigers mounted one last push, driving deep into Viking territory and reaching the 4-yard line. But Central’s defense held strong, turning away the threat and taking over possession. From there, the Vikings controlled the clock, sealing a defensive-dominated 21–6 victory over North Allegheny.

With the loss, North Allegheny falls to 5–1 on the season and will look to regroup when they take on Mt. Lebanon next week. Central Catholic, meanwhile, improves its record and continues to build momentum, preparing to face Shaler at home in their upcoming game.
