
Waynesburg Central defeats Wash High 21-13

On Friday night Waynesburg Central defeated Wash High 21-13 tonight.
Waynesburg Central opened the game with a rushing touchdown to take four and half minutes off the clock. Quarterback Jacob Stephenson ran it into the endzone for the touchdown and took the early lead 7-0.
Wash High responded on their opening drive with a touchdown. Caleb Patton runs it in for a one-yard touchdown to tie the game 7-7. This driving score left the clock with one and a half minutes remaining in the first quarter.

Waynesburg Central started the second quarter with a scoring drive. Stephenson passed the ball to Teagen Crouse to take the lead 14-7.

Wash High responded to this drive with a touchdown taking six minutes off the clock. Javon Woods rushed the touchdown making the score 14-13. However, Wash High attempted and failed on a extra-point.
In the second quarter, with thirty seconds remaining Waynesburg central would kick the first punt of the game.
Entering halftime Waynesburg Central led Wash High 14-13. The First half would consist of five drives total, three from Waynesburg Central, and two from Wash High.
Wash High started the second quarter with the ball. Their drive lasted just over a minute before Waynesburg Central’s Zack Jiblets intercepted it.
Waynesburg Central did not score in this drive and turned over their downs with eight minutes left in the third quarter. Wash High received the ball but also turned the ball over on downs with four minutes remaining in the Third Quarter.
Waynesburg Central received the ball after the turnover on downs but similarly did not gain anything from this drive. Waynesburg Central turned over the ball to Wash High with 12 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.
Wash High fumbles the ball with 11 minutes remaining and Jeffery Blair recovered it for Waynesburg Central. Waynesburg Central scored on this possession extending the game 21-13. The touchdown was Stephenson’s second of the night and be 25 yards.

Wash High took the ball with six minutes remaining on the clock. Ultimately they fumbled the ball on the goal line, and Waynesburg Central recovered it. Zach Jiblets recovered the ball and secured the possession and win for Waynesburg Central.
Waynesburg Central advances to 3-1 on the year and will play on the road against Steel Valley next week. While for Wash High they fall to 2-2 and will play at Sto-Rox next week.
