Westinghouse Storms Over Butler in 36-7 Win

Friday evening the Butler Golden Tornado hosted the visiting Westinghouse Bulldogs and lost the game with a final score of 36-7.

The Golden Tornado started the game with the ball, but Westinghouse forced a quick three and out and scored on their first drive of the game thanks to a fifty yard touchdown run to junior running back Shane Carter.

On the kickoff, Westinghouse forces a fumble from Butler sophomore Preston Simko and Westinghouse recovers the football and runs it into the end zone to take a 14-0 lead early in the first quarter.

On Westinghouse’s next drive, they marched the ball the whole way down the field to the Golden Tornado’s three yard line where freshman running back Laimon Bates runs it into the end zone and gives the Bulldogs a 22-0 lead in the first quarter.

Westinghouse forced the Golden Tornado to punt the ball in their next possession, but after a bad snap Butler threw an intentional grounding penalty in their own end zone giving the Bulldogs a safety and a 24-0 lead in the first half.

At the start of the second half, both teams traded possessions but Westinghouse scored another touchdown halfway through the third quarter thanks to a twenty two yard run by freshman running back Laimon Bates.

Two drives later, Westinghouse added on to the score with their fifth touchdown of the game thanks to a fifty three yard passing touchdown to Emilio Valentine with only nine minutes left of the game.

Butler got on the board late with twelve seconds left to go of the game where junior running back Evan Reinsel scores on fourth and one from the one yard line to make it a 36-7 game.

Westinghouse got the ball back and kneeled it down to end the game with a Bulldogs victory winning it 36-7.

With the win, Westinghouse improves their record to a 6-0 record. the Bulldogs will take on the Brashear Bulls next week in Pittsburgh. Butler falls to a 2-5 overall record. They travel up north to take on Erie Cathedral Prep next week. Both games are set to start at 7.
