This week we introduce our new guy on the sites Steve Richey! He’ll be keeping us up to date on what’s happening in District 7. WELCOME ABOARD!
6A Quad County Conference:
Butler Golden Tornado (0-3, 0-5) at Norwin Knights (0-3, 1-4): A big one in the bottom four of the conference as the top six teams qualify for the playoffs in 6A. Butler has yet to play any of the schools that they will be fighting with for that spot. They are coming off a 55-0 loss at the hands of Seneca Valley and the Golden Tornado have been outscored by an average of 41.2 points. Norwin already has one loss to one of the bottom teams in Hempfield. If the Knights want to make the postseason, they need to defeat Butler and Canon-McMillan in week seven to have a shot. They are only averaging 10.4 points per game.
Hempfield Spartans (1-3, 2-3) at Mount Lebanon Blue Devils (3-1, 3-2): Hempfield was looking good for that sixth playoff spot after beating Norwin in week two, however a 21-12 loss to then-winless Canon-McMillan has set them back. They might have to steal a win from the top five to get in. The Blue Devils suffered their first conference loss last week by a score of 40-14 at North Allegheny. Prior to that game, they had won three in a row by averaging 46 points per game.
North Allegheny Tigers (4-0, 5-0) at Seneca Valley Raiders (2-2, 2-3): The Tigers really flexed their muscles last week as they sent Mount Lebanon back to the South Hills with a 40-14 loss. Their defense has been fantastic this season by only allowing 30 points through five games. Seneca Valley is coming off a 55-0 win at home against Butler. The Raiders are close to being 4-0 in the conference as they have losses of 10-7 and 26-20. The Tigers will look for revenge as Seneca Valley was the team to end their postseason run last season.
Pine-Richland Rams (3-0, 5-0) at Central Catholic Vikings (2-1, 4-1): This is one of the best games in the WPIAL this week as it pits two of the top teams in the district. Pine-Richland is coming off a 46-0 win against Norwin and the Rams have done it with both their offense and defense. They are averaging 42.2 points on offense while allowing only 6.0 points per game on defense. The question mark comes with their soft conference schedule thus far as the teams they have beaten are a combined 1-9 in conference play. Central Catholic looks to keep their momentum going as they carry a two-game winning streak into this matchup. After struggling on offense by scoring 10 points in back-to-back games (a 10-7 win & an 11-10 loss), the Vikings scored 45 points last week in a non-conference game against a very good Bethel Park team. This is a big game as only two teams will receive a first-round bye in the playoffs. This game will be played at Carnegie Mellon University.
5A Allegheny Eight Conference:
Baldwin Highlanders (1-2, 2-3) at Chartiers Valley Colts (0-2, 2-3): This is a big game near the bottom of the conference as five teams qualify from each conference as well as ONE sixth-place team. Baldwin is coming off a big 30-27 win over Woodland Hills. The Highlanders need to shore up a defense that is allowing 30.0 points per game. The Colts are looking to end their two-game losing streak as their defense is allowing 42.0 points per game inside the conference.
Moon Tigers (2-0, 4-1) at Bethel Park Blackhawks (2-0, 3-1): Another big game in the conference with this one being a battle for one of the top spots. Moon has been very good in averaging 45.0 points per game in their two conference games. The Tigers’ only loss is to 6A #1 Pine-Richland. Bethel Park is coming off a drubbing handed to them by 6A Pittsburgh Central Catholic. Despite giving up 45 to the Vikings last week, the Blackhawks are only allowing 18.5 points per game.
West Allegheny Indians (1-3, 1-3) at Woodland Hills Wolverines (0-4, 0-5): This conference is full of big games every week and this is also one near the, surprisingly, bottom of the standings. West Allegheny has lost three games including
a 35-33 result against Upper St. Clair last week. The Indians are allowing 30.8 points per game in what is normally a great defensive team. Another head scratcher is Woodland Hills. They have lost their last two games by a total of seven points (45-41 at Upper St. Clair & 30-27 at Baldwin). The Wolverines allow 34.8 points per game.
5A Big East Conference:
Latrobe Wildcats (1-2, 2-3) at McKeesport Tigers (2-1, 3-2): Latrobe got their first conference win last week by defeating Connellsville 34-27. The Wildcats and Plum Mustangs will likely battle for the last playoff spot in the Big East in week eight. McKeesport ended their two-game losing streak with a 62-40 (!) win at Plum last week. The Tigers are going to need to continue to win games and need help to get into a position to get a first-round home playoff game.
Plum Mustangs (1-3, 2-3) at Penn-Trafford Warriors (3-0, 4-1): Plum was on the wrong end of a high-scoring affair last week as they lost to McKeesport by a score of 62-40. The Mustangs are allowing 40.5 points per game in conference play, however they have played the other top dogs in the standings. Penn-Trafford looks to bounce back from their first loss of the season as they were defeated by Massillon, Ohio by a score of 42-21. The Warriors are a little banged up as their top two rushers were hurt two weeks ago against McKeesport. They should be ok the next few weeks against Plum, Latrobe, and Hampton, but they finish their section schedule at Franklin Regional.
5A Northern Conference:
Kiski Area Cavaliers (1-3, 2-3) at Hampton Talbots (2-2, 2-3): This is a pivotal game for a playoff spot in the conference. Kiski Area is coming off a 7-3 loss to conference-leading Penn Hills. The Cavaliers are only scoring 13.0 points per game, however they are only allowing 18.6. Hampton is looking to bounce back after they have lost their last two games to North Hills and previously winless Fox Chapel. The Talbots will need to score more points as they only average 17.6 points per game.
Penn Hills Indians (3-0, 4-1) at Armstrong Riverhawks (0-2, 1-3): Penn Hills looks to add on to their four-game winning streak. The Indians are coming off two close wins (14-7 vs Mars & 7-3 at Kiski Area). Their only loss is to 6A #1 Pine-Richland. Armstrong is still in the thick of things for the playoff picture, but they will need to get going sooner than later. The Riverhawks will need to shore up their defense as they have allowed 38.3 points in their last three games, all losses.
Shaler Titans (1-1, 2-3) at Mars Planets (1-1, 3-2): Another pivotal game in the middle of the section as Shaler travels up Route 8 to face Mars. The Titans are coming off a huge win on Saturday over Franklin Regional (28-17). Mars is also coming off a nice win at Armstrong (42-21). The Planets will be looking to buck a trend on Friday night as they have alternated wins and losses this year.
4A Big Eight Conference:
Belle Vernon Leopards (2-1, 3-1) at Greensburg Salem Golden Lions (2-0, 2-3): This is a matchup of definite playoff teams as this is a conference of haves (top four) and have-nots (bottom four). Belle Vernon has already played juggernaut Thomas Jefferson in what was probably the conference championship game in week two. The Leopards are averaging 60.7 points per game outside of that game with the Jaguars. Their defense has been fantastic as well as they have allowed 6.7 outside of that Thomas Jefferson game. Greensburg Salem is coming off a 47-27 win over Laurel
Highlands. The Golden Lions have faced very tough teams in their non-conference slate and that looks like it has prepared them well for conference play.
Laurel Highlands Mustangs (0-2, 0-5) at West Mifflin Titans (2-0, 3-2): Laurel Highlands is struggling mightily. The Mustangs have yet to be competitive in any of their five games as they are allowing 48.4 points per game while only scoring 14.8. The Titans, on the other hand, have been fantastic defensively as they have allowed 0 points in conference play. West Mifflin has also faced tough tests outside of their conference foes.
Trinity Hillers (1-3, 1-3) at Indiana Little Indians (1-3, 1-4): The winner of this game has an outside shot of giving the 4th place team a run for the final playoff spot. Trinity is coming off their second 40-0 loss of the season (vs West Mifflin & vs Thomas Jefferson). The Hillers are somehow only allowing 26.5 points per game overall. Indiana has been a wreck on both sides of the ball. The Indians are scoring 9.6 points per game while allowing 44.4. They’ve allowed 123 points in their last two games.
4A Northwest Eight Conference:
Ambridge Bridgers (0-2, 0-5) at Highlands Golden Rams (1-2, 1-4): Ambridge has been a disaster for a few years now as they own one of the longest losing streaks in the WPIAL. The Bridgers are under new leadership this season but they are only scoring 4.0 points per game while giving up 43.8. Highlands got their first win of the season last week with a 27-0 victory at Beaver. The Golden Rams are hoping to keep their name in the playoff race but they are only averaging 9.0 points per game.
Montour Spartans (0-2, 1-4) at Knoch Knights (4-0, 5-0): Montour might be the best 1-4 team in the state as they have faced some tough non-section competition in Moon & Aliquippa. The Spartans two losses in section play are at New Castle (28-21) and at Blackhawk (29-21) and they will be on the road again this week. Knoch has been one of the surprise teams in the WPIAL this season as they are undefeated. The Knights have feasted on the bottom teams in the conference the last three weeks (42-7 vs Beaver, 24-0 at Highlands, and 34-6 at Ambridge). We will see what kind of team they have starting this week.
South Fayette Golden Lions (2-0, 4-1) at Blackhawk Cougars (3-1, 3-2): A big one in the conference as these two teams look to get a top-two spot and a home playoff game in the first round of the playoffs. South Fayette has been golden since their week zero loss against 5A Upper St. Clair. The Golden Lions are averaging 47.5 points per game in their four-game winning streak. Blackhawk is coming into this game on a three-game winning streak after losing to 3A power Central Valley (32-15) and at conference-leading Knoch (21-20).
3A Big East Conference:
Deer Lakes Lancers (3-1, 3-2) at Burrell Buccaneers (2-2, 3-2): This is likely the battle for the fourth, and final, playoff spot in the conference. Deer Lakes has really been airing things out this year as they are riding a three-game winning streak against the bottom teams in the conference. The Lancers’ lone loss comes at the hands of section-leading Elizabeth Forward (15-7). Burrell is riding a two-game winning streak against the bottom two teams in the section. The Buccaneers have also lost to Elizabeth Forward (34-26). If comparing scores means anything, this should be a tight game.
Elizabeth Forward Warriors (3-0, 4-0) at Derry Area Trojans (2-1, 3-2): These two teams were part of a three-way tie for the section title last season. Elizabeth Forward has been good on both sides of the ball as they average 30.5 per game on offense and allow 13.0 per game on defense. The Warriors are coming off a 42-6 non-conference win over Quaker
Valley. Derry Area is coming off a 13-3 loss to North Catholic. The Trojans are struggling to score recently as they only scored seven in their previous game (a 7-0 win vs Mount Pleasant).
Freeport Yellowjackets (1-3, 1-3) at Yough Cougars (1-3, 1-4): Freeport is still a team to watch out for in this section as they have already played the big three (35-27 L at Derry, 28-20 L vs North Catholic, 31-13 L at Elizabeth Forward). The Yellowjackets were the fourth playoff team from this section last year and will need to win out again this year. Yough has not faired very well this year as they are riding a three-game losing streak. After allowing nine total points in their first two games, they have allowed 156 points in their last three losses.
North Catholic Trojans (3-0, 3-1) at Mount Pleasant Vikings (1-2, 2-3): North Catholic rebounded from their first loss with a 13-3 win over Derry. The Trojans have only allowed 29 points in their three conference games. Mount Pleasant is having a good season based on their history. The Vikings have lost two in a row, after a two-game win streak, in tough fashion (7-0 at Derry & 29-26 at Deer Lakes).
3A Tri-County West Conference:
Aliquippa Quips (3-0, 5-0) at Hopewell Vikings (1-1, 1-4): Aliquippa just keeps rolling along after their 40-0 drubbing against Beaver Falls. The Quips have only allowed nine points in conference play and already have two shutouts. They are also offensively adept at 43.4 points scored per game. Hopewell is coming off a 49-14 non-conference loss at 4A #2 South Fayette. The Vikings are allowing 34.2 points per game.
Central Valley Warriors (3-0, 5-0) at Waynesburg Raiders (0-3, 2-3): The Warriors will take the 65+ mile trek to Waynesburg with a perfect record. Central Valley has scored 132 conference points while only allowing 12. They have also defeated two quality non-conference teams in Blackhawk and North Catholic. Everybody is waiting for week nine when they travel to Aliquippa. Waynesburg is riding a two-game losing streak. The Raiders have scored 75 points in their two on-conference wins but have only scored 25 in their three conference losses.
Keystone Oaks Golden Eagles (1-2, 3-2) at Quaker Valley Quakers (0-3, 0-4): Keystone Oaks started off by winning their first three games. That streak ended after a surprising loss at home to South Park. The Golden Eagles will likely need to win out to gain one of the four playoff spots available. Quaker Valley have been dominated in every way this season, just two years after winning a PIAA state title. The Quakers have lost games by scores of: 55-0, 55-0, 41-14, and 42-6.
2A Allegheny Conference:
Shady Side Academy Indians (2-0, 3-1) at Apollo-Ridge Vikings (2-1, 4-1): In what was supposed to be a battle for a home playoff spot, the Indians had to forfeit this game due to a low number of healthy players. Apollo-Ridge will take the win, even though it was their homecoming game, as they were coming off a 42-14 loss at Avonworth.
Summit Academy Knights (0-2, 0-5) at Avonworth Antelopes (3-0, 5-0): Hide the women and children for this one. Summit Academy has lost five straight as they are giving up an average of 44.6 points per game. The Knights haven’t had any help from the schedule makers as they faced two of the top three teams in 2A out of conference (Washington and Burgettstown). It looks like Avonworth will have at least a share of the conference title as they defeated Apollo-Ridge last week and Shady Side Academy had to forfeit their game this week. The Antelopes have been fantastic as they have scored 127 points in their three conference games as well as defeating two good teams out of conference (Neshannock and New Brighton).
2A Interstate Conference:
Beth-Center Bulldogs (0-4, 0-5) at Charleroi Cougars (2-1, 3-1): Beth-Center has really struggled to prevent points as they have given up 42.3 per conference game. The Bulldogs have been bitten by the top two teams in the conference the last two weeks (62-16 L vs Southmoreland & 46-14 at McGuffey). Charleroi has won three games in a row since losing their opener at Washington (42-14). The Cougars are averaging 52.7 points per game since that loss.
Frazier Commodores (0-3, 0-5) at Washington Little Prexies (2-0, 5-0): This looks like a lopsided game on paper. Frazier has been dominated in their five games this year as they are only scoring 9.0 points per game while allowing 42.2. Washington is on the opposite side of that spectrum as they have blown away their five opponents. The Little Prexies are averaging 47.6 points per game while allowing 15.6.
McGuffey Highlanders (3-0, 5-0) at Southmoreland Scotties (4-0, 5-0): This is one of the best games in the WPIAL this week as two high-scoring teams will go at it. McGuffey has been fantastic after averaging 41.5 points in their first two games, which were out of conference, they are now at 46.4 points per game overall. The Highlanders, however, have played the bottom three teams in the conference. Southmoreland has not made the playoffs since 1979!! It’s very likely that drought ends even if they lose their last three conference games against the top teams in the conference. The Scotties are averaging 51.0 points per game and are allowing 17.6.
2A Midwestern Conference:
Mohawk Warriors (0-4, 0-5) at Shenango Wildcats (1-2, 3-2): Mohawk is having a really down season as they are only scoring 6.2 points per game. The Warriors are coming off a close section lose to Western beaver (24-21). Shenango will look to get a victory at home as they try to stay in the playoff race. The Wildcats are coming off a tough home loss to Riverside (17-7). Shenango has scored 92 points overall and has allowed 92 points overall.
Neshannock Lancers (3-0, 4-1) at New Brighton Golden Lions (2-0, 4-1): A big one in the Midwestern will see the winner likely battle Freedom for the conference title. Neshannock is riding a four-game win streak after their opening 21-7 loss to Avonworth. The Lancers are averaging 46.5 points per game since that loss. New Brighton’s only loss is also to Avonworth in week three (24-13). The Golden Lions did bounce back with a non-section 28-17 win at Seton LaSalle last week. They have only allowed 9.6 points per game.
Western Beaver Golden Beavers (1-2, 3-2) at Ellwood City Wolverines (0-3, 0-5): Western Beaver is in the same boat as Shenango in which they need wins to stay in the playoff race. The Golden Beavers are coming off a 24-21 last-second win against Mohawk. Like Shenango, Western Beaver has the same amount of points scored as points allowed (123-123). Ellwood City is struggling and that’s an understatement. The Wolverines are being outscored 122-0 in their three conference losses and they were shutout in one of their non-conference games.
2A Three Rivers Conference:
Brentwood Spartans (3-0, 4-1) at South Side Beaver Rams (2-1, 2-3): The surprise Brentwood team has won four in a row after their opening week loss to 3A Keystone Oaks. The Spartans have done it with defense as they have only allowed 30 points in the four games since. This includes back-to-back shutouts. South Side Beaver looks to hold that fourth playoff spot. The Rams are coming off a 42-9 loss in their showdown at Burgettstown.
Seton LaSalle Rebels (0-3, 0-4) at Fort Cherry Rangers (0-4, 0-5): Mike Zmijanac looks for his first ever win outside of Aliquippa as his Rebels travel to Fort Cherry. The Rebels have faced the top three teams in the section and have not been competitive. Fort Cherry has been shutout three times this season and has only scored 15 points in their other two games.
Serra Catholic Eagles (1-1, 3-2) at Burgettstown Blue Devils (3-0, 4-0): This game is Saturday afternoon at 1:30pm. Serra Catholic is looking to get into the playoff picture. The Eagles broke a two-game losing streak and are coming off a 55-13 win at Carlynton. Burgettstown has been fantastic in every aspect in their first four games. The Blue Devils are averaging 41.3 points on offense and allowing 7.3 points on defense.
1A Big Seven Conference:
Bishop Canevin Crusaders (0-2, 0-5) at Union Scotties (2-2, 2-3): Bishop Canevin is coming off a week where they had to forfeit their game against OLSH due to a low number of healthy players. The Crusaders have struggled greatly in the games that they have played. They are averaging 4.5 points per game offensively while allowing 36.3 defensively. Union is coming into this game on a two-game winning streak. The Scotties have scored 96 points in their two conference wins and only 16 points in their two conference losses. They will need to win out as only two teams from each conference make the playoffs (along with two third-place wild card teams).
Cornell Raiders (2-1, 3-1) at Rochester Rams (0-3, 0-5): Another team that needs to stack wins is Cornell. The Raiders rebounded from their three-point loss against Sto-Rox with a 57-14 win over Northgate. Cornell is averaging 44.0 points per game. Rochester made the 1A championship last season however this season is going very different. The Rams are only averaging 6.4 points per game offensively.
Our Lady of Sacred Heart Chargers (3-1, 4-1) at Laurel Spartans (2-0, 4-1): This is a big game near the top of the conference. OLSH has won three straight games, including their forfeit win last week over Bishop Canevin. The Chargers’ big knock is that their three wins are against the current bottom three teams in the section. Laurel started their season with four shutout wins in a row before losing 33-7 at Clairton last week. The Spartans have outscored their section opponents 99-0 but like OLSH, they have played two of the bottom feeders.
Sto-Rox Vikings (3-0, 5-0) at Northgate Flames (0-3, 0-4): Another game where you can hide the women and children. Sto-Rox features a five-game winning streak with an average of 36.6 points scored per game. The Vikings are also doing it against the good teams in the section as they have yet to play the three winless teams. Northgate has really struggled with roster size recently and that has not changed this year. The Flames are allowing an average of 47.0 points per game and have been blown out in their five losses.
1A Eastern Conference:
Clairton Bears (2-0, 3-2) at Leechburg Blue Devils (1-2, 2-3): Pretty much everybody is looking to week nine in this conference as Clairton hosts Jeannette for the likely conference championship. After losing their first two games to strong 3A Aliquippa and 2A McGuffey, they have won three in a row including a nice 33-7 win against Laurel last week. Leechburg is coming off a 47-0 drubbing at Riverview last Saturday afternoon. The Blue Devils are outscoring their opponents 119-109.
Springdale Dynamos (1-1, 4-1) at Greensburg Central Catholic Centurions (3-1, 4-1): A key matchup for what looks like third place, and a possible wild card, in the conference. Springdale is coming off their first loss, a 43-0 drubbing at home against Jeannette. The Dynamos were only allowing 15.0 points per game before that decision. Greensburg CC is riding a two-game winning streak by defeating Leechburg 42-41 and Imani Christian 41-0. The Centurions only loss is a seven-point decision to Clairton, a team that Springdale has yet to play.
Imani Christian Saints (0-3, 0-5) at Riverview Raiders (0-3, 0-4): Two teams that are already on the outside looking in will meet on Saturday afternoon at noon in Riverside Park in Oakmont. Imani Christian has not been competitive in any of their games as they allow 43.0 points per game and only average 6.4 points offensively. Much like the Saints, Riverview has been blown out in all their games. The Raiders have been shut out in three consecutive losses and have given up a total of 161 points in those three games.
1A Tri-County South Conference:
Avella Eagles (0-2, 1-4) at West Greene Pioneers (4-0, 5-0): This is another game that could get ugly very quickly. Avella is one of the lowest scoring teams in the WPIAL as they average 5.0 points per game. The Eagles’ defense does them no favors either as they have allowed 145 points after somehow shutting out Bishop Canevin. West Greene is one of the highest scoring teams in the PIAA as they are averaging 56.8 per game. The Pioneers will have their toughest game next week as they host California for the likely section title game.
Jefferson-Morgan Rockets (2-2, 2-3) at California Trojans (2-0, 3-2): Jefferson-Morgan will need to stack wins as they look to grab a possible wild card spot. The Rockets are averaging 35.7 points per game in their last three games after being shutout the first two games. California enters this game riding a two-game losing streak as they have lost at Laurel and at 2A Washington. The Trojans will need to win this game to set up the showdown at West Greene next week.
Mapletown Maples (0-3, 1-4) at Chartiers-Houston Buccaneers (2-1, 3-2): Mapletown has been much improved this year even though the record doesn’t show. The Maples are scoring 22.2 points per game, but they are allowing 34.8 on defense. Chartiers-Houston’s only section loss is to West Greene, so they are looking to get into a playoff spot as well. The Buccaneers are coming off a 46-7 loss to my #1 1A team in Sto-Rox.
Monessen Greyhounds (1-2, 1-4) at Bentworth Bearcats (1-2, 1-4): Monessen was leading West Greene for a while last week until a fumble got the Pioneers rolling. The Greyhounds two section losses have come to the top two teams in the section, so they are looking for wins to have a shot at a wild card. Bentworth is coming off their first win of the season as they beat Mapletown 47-42 last week. The Bearcats are allowing an astonishing 52.0 points per game but that does include allowing 82 to West Greene.
Non-Conference:
Beaver Area Bobcats (1-4) at Ringgold Rams (0-5): This is a game where two teams are obviously struggling and looking to gain some momentum in non-section play. The Bobcats have been outscored 169-13 in their four section games. The Rams are averaging 5.2 points per game while allowing 40.4.
Brownsville Falcons (2-3) at Jeannette Jayhawks (5-0): A 2A vs 1A matchup as Brownsville is on a two-game losing streak where they have allowed 106 points. Jeannette has outscored their last three opponents 145-0.
Carlynton Cougars (2-3) at Riverside Panthers (2-2): In two teams going in opposite directions, Carlynton has lost their last three games while Riverside has won two in a row.
Connellsville Falcons (1-4) at Thomas Jefferson Jaguars (5-0): This one could get ugly as Connellsville has lost four straight games while Thomas Jefferson is outscoring opponents by an average of 43 points per game.
East Allegheny Wildcats (3-2) at Carmichaels Mighty Mikes (1-3): East Allegheny is coming off a 37-0 win against Summit Academy while Carmichaels has lost three in a row, all against three of the four big boys of the Interstate Conference.
Fox Chapel Foxes (1-4) at Upper St. Clair Panthers (4-1): Fox Chapel is coming off their first win, a 16-13 section triumph at Hampton. Upper St. Clair has played tight games all year with wins of 14, 4, and 2. The Panthers’ only loss was a 29-21 loss at section leading Peters Township.
Freedom Bulldogs (5-0) at Valley Vikings (1-4): Freedom is coming off two straight shutout victories and the Bulldogs are only allowing 9.2 points per game. Valley, on the other hand, is only averaging 8.6 points per game offensively.
Gateway Gators (4-1) at North Hills Indians (4-1): Gateway is coming off three straight shutout victories with wins of 44-0 over Plum, 49-0 over Latrobe, and 49-0 over Ringgold. The Gators are also averaging 39.0 points per game. North Hills suffered their first loss last week to another Indians team in Peters Township (38-14).
New Castle Red Hurricane (3-2) at South Park Eagles (2-2): 4A New Castle is coming off another non-section game last week, a 35-27 loss against West Mifflin. The Red Hurricane will make another long trek this week to 3A South Park. The Eagles are riding a two-game winning streak as they have placed themselves into third place in their conference.
Peters Township Indians (5-0) at Canon-McMillan Big Macs (1-4): Another cross-classification game as these neighbors will have battle in Canonsburg. The Indians are coming off a 38-14 win against previously undefeated North Hills. Canon-McMillan got a huge section win last week against Hempfield but are allowing 36.8 points per game.
South Allegheny Gladiators (2-1) at Steel Valley Ironmen (1-3): South Allegheny is riding a two-game winning streak and have only allowed 9.4 points per game. However, the Gladiators only average 19.2 offensively. Steel Valley looks to build off their first win last week, a 19-7 section win against Valley. The Ironmen are only averaging 6.3 points per game.
Uniontown Red Raiders (0-5) at Beaver Falls Tigers (3-2): A long haul for the longest losing streak in the WPIAL as Uniontown travels to Geneva College to take on Beaver Falls. The Red Raiders are being outscored 201-44 this year. Beaver Falls suffered a 40-0 loss at Aliquippa last week, but they are still averaging 29.0 points per game.
