According to a report by Chris Harlan of the Trihssn network, the WPIAL board voted unanimously Thursday to trade the traditional start dates for a new “hybrid” option offered by the PIAA. The board hoped to give schools added flexibility as they transition back to classes under covid-19 conditions, WPIAL executive director Amy Scheuneman told Harlan. The WPIAL will release its plan to school administrators by noon Friday before announcing the details publicly.
That information will also likely include updated information about WPIAL playoff scenarios as well as if Heinz stadium will be used. They were waiting to see what moves the PIAA made during their Wednesday meeting (https://pafootballnews.com/news/protect-yourself-protect-others-)
The decision by the WPIAL also joins the decision by the Eastern Penn Association in District 11 in choosing a delayed start and District 1 Norristown’s Superintendent who is recommending they cancel all fall sports.
