In a game that did not particularly matter according to the postseason, but games must be played and Yough showed up big time tonight as they would dominate the Brownsville Falcons 48-0 at Redstone Field Friday night. Senior receiver CJ Waldier highlighted the game with three touchdowns and an interception.

The Cougars were ready to take the opening kickoff, but the Falcons had other plans. They attempted an onside kick that they would later recover. Unfortunately, they did not capitalize on their opportunity and went three-and-out.

Yough’s opening drive went well as senior running back Gamal Marballie ran in for the 29-yard touchdown. The two-point conversion was run in by Waldier to make it eight to nothing.

The Falcons looked to answer back with a quick one, but on 3rd and 13, senior quarterback Cameron Walters threw the ball and Yough’s Waldier came flying in to grab the ball out of the air. He would run the ball back to complete the pick-six. Sophomore kicker Madison Hodge made good on the point after to make it 15-0 to close out the first quarter.

On their first possession of the second quarter, Sophomore quarterback Gavin Roebuck found Waldier for a 43-yard touchdown to make it 21-0.

On the following drive, Brownsville could not get much of anything, so they punted the ball away. JJ Waller for the Cougars caught a falling ball and returned it for a special teams score. The two-point conversion afterward would end up no good. This would bring the game to halftime for a score of 27-0.

Brownsville’s next drive would result in a turnover on downs, but Yough’s drive was a little different. On the first play of their drive, Roebuck found Waldier for an 83-yard touchdown. The two-point conversion was good and the score was now 35-0 to close out the third quarter of action.

After Brownsville turns the ball over on downs again, Yough went back to work as Marballie takes it himself for the 30-yard touchdown.

The Falcons could not catch a break and they would end up fumbling the ball and it would be covered by Marballie to top off an amazing game for him.

To close out the game, the Cougars marched down the field for a score by CJ Layne for his first touchdown of the season. Hodge would get the last point of the game to make it 48-0.

Although Yough’s season is over, Brownsville has one more game at home against East Allegheny next week.
