The big news here is DuBois, currently 0-8 on the season, has been granted leave from the District 10 football league and was accepted into the D-9 League Large School Division where they will renew old rivalries like Bradford and Punxsy. Clearfield will be the only D-9 school not in a D-9 conference beginning next year.
Speaking of large schools there is a three-way tie for first place in the Large School Division between Ridgway, Clarion, and Brookville, who are all 7-1. Ridgway battles Brookville in Johnsonburg this Friday.
In the Small School North Division, Smethport leads with a 4-0 record in the division and is 5-2 overall. Coudersport is right behind them at 3-0 in the division and 7-0 overall. Coudy is ranked 4th in the state by PFN in the single A classification. They and Smethport will meet this Friday in a game to determine not only who wins the North but for playoff seeding also.
The Small School South is led by Redbank Valley who is 3-0 in the division and 7-1 for the year. Keystone 2-1 (7-1) and Union/A-C Valley 2-1 (6-2) are tied for second. RBV takes on Union/A-C Valley this week.
As far as the playoff picture goes, Clearfield (6-2) will be either the #1 or #2 seed at the 4A level as they are in a race for the top seed with Bellefonte in the 5-6-8-9 sub-region. St. Marys is currently the third seed at the 3A level with a 4-4 record. They are in the 5-8-9 sub-region.
In the D-9 AA classification, Clarion is currently the top seed, followed by Ridgway, Brookville, and Keystone to round out the top four. Finally, in the 1A class Redbank is the top dog right now. They are followed by Coudersport, Union/A-C Valley, and Smethport.
Christian Coudriet of St. Marys leads D-9 in passing with 1,957 yards. Cole Sebastian of Otto-Eldred leads in TD passes with 20. Even though Austin Newcomb has not played in the past two games for Clarion, he is still the top rusher with 937 yards. Travis Gleason of Coudersport is ahead in rushing TDs with 16. Clarion’s Ethan Burford has the most yardage on pass receptions with 861 and has caught 13 touchdown passes, which leads in that category. Ian Thrush of Brookville easily has the most receptions with 58.
