The Dubois Beavers hosted the Punxsutawney Chucks on Friday Night for the first time since 2015. The two arch-rival schools met up for the 95th all time matchup and for the first of two contests this season.
The Beavers took advantage of playing in front of its’ hometown crowd and put points on the board early when Reuben Estrada punched it in from the 4-yard line. The Beavers benefited off of a poor punt from the Chucks and cracked open a 14-0 lead when Sophomore Cam-Ron Hayes found Senior Dale Kot for a 35-yard catch. Kot got behind the Chucks secondary and made nearly a full extension to haul in the pigskin. The Beavers led 14-0 after the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the Dubois defense kept themselves in the Punxsy backfield. They limited Zeke Bennett and forced the Chucks into punting the football. The Beavers gained 3 more points off of the toe of Nick Graeca to make it 17-0.
On the upcoming kickoff, Zeke Bennett took it into Dubois territory, and then put Punxsy inside the 25 on a big run on the very next play.
However, the drive would come to end when Punxsutawney Quarterback Kameron Falgout was intercepted on the goal line by Braxton Adams. The Beavers would retain the 17-0 lead into the half. Zach Henery capped off the scoring early in 4th Quarter when he fell into the endzone from a yard out. The PAT was good, and Dubois would hold on to win 24-0 at home.

The win was Dubois’ first since the last week of the regular season of 2018 when they topped the Brookville Raiders 16-7. Punxsutawney drops to 0-3 and has now lost 19 consecutive games.
Dubois (1-2) travels to Central Clarion next week and the Chucks will host Karns City. These two teams will meet again on Oct. 30th in Punxsutawney.
