It was a cool, mid to late October likeThursday night in Punxsutawney. On tap: The Battle of Route 36 Trophy game between the Chucks and Brookville. At first it looked like this was going to be a battle. Punxy returned the opening kick 66 yards to the Brookville 28. Several plays later Kameron Falgout hit Sam Shepler from 11 yards out to put the Chucks up 6-0 with 9:12 left in the 1st quarter. The kick was blocked. That lead was as close to winning as the Chucks would get as the Raiders took control on their first possession and never looked back, cruising to a 38-6 win to claim the trophy.
Brookville struck back quickly. Thomas Krug found Ian Thrush for a one play, 49 yard drive. The kick made it 7-6 and the Raiders were on their way. Krug called his own number on the next Raider drive to put Brookville up 14-6 at the end of the first quarter.
Neither team did much the rest of the quarter, each exchanging turnovers until just before halftime. Forcing a Punxy punt with 1:11 to play, the Raiders held the ball on the Chucks 38. On the second play Krug hit Robert Keth for a 10 yard td pass to put Brookville up 21-6 at the half.
Krug found Keth again to open the second half for his third td pass of the night. The pat made it 28-6 with 8:48 left in the third quarter. The two would hook up one more time giving the Raiders a 35-6 lead near the end of the third. Donavan Hoffman closed out the scoring with a 19 yard field goal.
Brookville will travel to Clarion next Friday whil Punxsutawney travels to St. Marys.
