On Saturday, it was an all-New Jersey roster of teams. Archbishop Wood was originally scheduled to play, but scheduling was changed. The best matchup of the day was St. Peter’s Prep obliterating St. Augustine Prep, 41-7, in a game with an inadvertent running clock. The scoreboard had malfunctioned, frequently turning off and on, and the score was incorrectly displayed as 42-7 for much of the second half. Only to finally be corrected to 41-7. Though the running clock remained. St. Peter’s Prep faces off against Pennsylvania stalwarts St. Joseph’s Prep next weekend at Rutgers in the Rumble on the Raritan. Another kickoff event hosted in the Garden State.

Toms River North 28, Washington Twp 21

The final day of the Battle at the Beach kicked off with a major interstate showdown between Thomas Jefferson from suburban Pittsburgh going against Millville’s Thunderbolts from southern New Jersey. Thomas Jefferson may have been dismayed by their beach vacation coming to an end, as Millville turned a 3-0 early deficit in a 41-10 victory. The Thunderbolts scored on passes of 70, 65, and 94 yards to claim a 21-3 lead at the break. An 85 yard pass, and a 70 yard run added two more touchdowns to dominate the final scoreline.
