Carmel Greyhounds and Center Grove Trojans ended the 2019 Indiana high school football season with a game, that left most, if not all fans wanting more. This game gave us a 3-3 tie after a quarter of play, to a 20-3 game with Carmel leading after three quarters of play and looking like they were going to slide through the fourth quarter to another state champion. But the Greyhounds had other things in mind, after scoring twice they needed their tired defense to make one more stop, so the hot offense could try and tie this game up or give them the lead. With 3:21 left the Greyhounds offense went to work, with I am guessing one thing in mind. Run the clock out or score to ice the game. The first two plays of the drive were won by the defense, but on 3rd and 10 Dylan Downing ran for a gain of 17 yards to move the chains. Three plays later the Greyhounds faced 3rd an three Downing would gain 9 yards to again move the chains to keep the drive alive. From there the Greyhounds went to victory formation twice to run out the clock.

In the opening quarter the teams traded field goals. Center Grove would get a 22 yard kick from Austin Watson, while the Greyhounds got a 42 yard kick by Spencer Hanna. In the 2nd quarter the Greyhounds would score on a 48 yard pass from Gabe Quigely to Barron Smith and a 25 yard field goal from Hanna, to take a 13-3 lead. The 2nd quarter gave us one more score from the Greyhounds and it came on a Zach White 10 yard run, that made this a 20-3 game, after the PAT.

The exciting 4th quarter would see two touchdowns scored by the Trojans and a game clinching drive by the Greyhounds. The first score came on a Tayven Jackson to Trent Veith 41 yards, with the 2nd score coming on a 11 yard pass from Jackson to Mason Long that made this a 20-17 game, after the PAT. The major difference in this one was 4 turnovers by the Trojans and 0 by the Greyhounds.

Notes
Center Grove
Carson Steele A Junior, who was not listed in the top four for rushing yards, came off of the bench to carry the rock 22 times for 96 yards. The 6-2, 225 pound Junior should be a force next season.
Trent Veith another Junior had 9 catches, 138 yards with 1 TD. He ends his season with 40 catches and like, Steele, he should be a force in 2020.
Max Baker had 10 tackles.

Carmel
Ty Wise ends his career with 13 tackles and 1 pick to lead the defense.
Dylan Downing 11 carries and 104 yards.
Baron Smith 1 catch, 48 yards and 1 TD.
