Game number 17 for the covid-19 season took me to Clarksville, Ohio to watch the home team small school powerhouse Clinton Massie battle the upset-minded Batavia Bulldogs. Batavia was playing just their 2nd game of the season because of A covid-19 issue. They did win that game, for Clinton Massie, they entered 3-0. I want to think the people at Clinton Massie for allowing PAFOOTBALLNEWS to attend this one and apologize to both teams and fans for not getting the article up last night, this old man was tired when he got home and 6 am. was coming early. I am using the rosters from digital scout Hudl and MaxPreps. so let’s hope they are correct.

Kody Zantene got things started with a sweet 12-yard run, then on the next play, he handed the ball off to Carter Frank, who ran for 13-yards down to the Batavia 4-yard line. The 50-yard drive came to A climax when Zantene found Dawson Conley for the
4-yard touchdown. Trevor McGuinness nailed the P.A.T. making this a 7-0 game, with 9:32 left in the opening quarter. The Falcons defense looked every bit as good as their offense on its first time on the field. On third down Colton Trampler batted down a pass thrown by Max Applegate, then on fourth down they held Mick Heckard well short of the chains after the catch was made.
Frank would run the final 13-yards of the next Falcons drive to make this a 14-0 game, with 6:42 still left in the quarter. Batavia, who I learned seldom punts and rarely kick P.A.T. would go for it on 4th and twelve. the result was an Applegate 22-yard pass to Kellen Epps. That would be the highlight of the drive as it soon fizzled out due to some hard nose play from the Falcons defense. The Falcons made this A 21-0 game when Frank pulled in A 29-yard pass. Just 1:26 seconds later we had our-self A 21-8 game after Luke Scaggs scored on an 8-yard run followed by A two-point conversion pass to Mason Marx. Carson Vanhoose picked up 17-yards if not for a fine tackle from Kyler Myers the run would have gone for a lot more yardage. Daelin Maple picked up 31-yards on another big run by the Falcons. The quarter ended with the score of 21-8 Falcons.

Just four seconds in the 2nd quarter Vanhoose closed the drive out, with A 2-yard run making this a 28-8 game. The Bulldogs would pick up 49-yards through the air when Applegate found Luke Scaggs, From there the Bulldogs got A 24-yard touchdown pass from Applegate to Mick Heckard on A slant making this A 28-14 game. Heckard was wide opened to make this one of the easier completions for Applegate. With 10.59 left Vanhoose would go 50-yards for what appeared another Falcons score, but Ahold negated the score. Just none seconds later the Falcons would light up the scoreboard again when Carter Frank scored from 53-yards out to make this a 35-14 game. It seemed like everyone who carried the ball for the Falcons was a step faster than the guy who ran before him. Applegate, who throws A nice ball when given the time would avoid some Falcon pressure to throw A pass downfield but it was picked off by Frank. Frank is one heck of A player and one every team on the Falcons scheduled better take notice of.
Kody Zantene would get the right corner, with 5:35 left in the half and go 37-yards for another Falcons score to make this A 42-14 game. Zantene does not throw much but did show during his four throws during the game that he is very good at it, but with the line making the running game so easy, the QB does not have to throw often. Vanhoose recovered A fumble by Applegate, at the Bulldogs 13-yard line setting up the next Falcons score. And that came from Vanhoose from 4-yards out to make this a 49-14 score, with 4:45 left in the half. Applegate was sacked on A fourth-down try when Daelin Maple and Charley Hale teamed up to get the QB. We would see the Falcons lead grow to 56-14 when Zantene found Dawson Conley wide opened for the 25-yard score. Massie would get A interception from Frank right before the half ended.

With the running clock being put into use due to the score the third and fourth quarter flew by. In the third, the Bulldogs showed they might have been beaten but they refused to hang their heads low. With 7:43 left on the clock, Applegate used his fast feet to pick up 29-yards. Later we would see Keegan Lamb make a sweet pick on the Applegate pass. The only score of the quarter came on A 82 yard run from Vanhoose making this A 63-14 game. The Falcons defense got the last big play of the quarter when Owen Trick sacked Applegate.

The final score of the game came on A 13-yard run from Gabe McDowell to make this A 70-14 game. The last big play of the game came on A run of nearly 30-yards from the Falcons Brody Clutter. Massie did not run the score up. They played the bench a lot of the 2nd half and did not snap the ball until there were five seconds left on the play clock during that time.
