Eagles tame the Panthers 37-0

Frankton came into this one supporting a 1-2 record, while Elwood was just 0-2. Neither team has had the start to the 2021 season they were hoping which made this game important and big to both. One of the two was going to leave Ball State University feeling a little better about themselves, while the other might need more time than they have to regroup.  The answer to which team was leaving feeling better about things would show itself very early.

Crew Ferrell would break off a 13-yard run, when the Eagles were facing a third and two, with 9″07 left in the first quarter. Then it was an 8-yard run from Brice Everitt. Everitt closed out the drive with a 23-yard touchdown run, after Colson Falink nailed the point after kick the score was 7-0, with 7:55 left in the first.

Bubba Nunley would pick off Will Retherford the 0:53 seconds later the score became 14-0 when Everitt ran the ball in from 59-yards out to make this a 14-0 game, after another point after kick was good. The quarter would see one good play from the Panthers with Hunter Sallee getting to Brayden Douglass for a loss of 10-yards.

Midway through the 2nd quarter, Retherford would be sacked by Ty Everson. Almost 3:00 minutes later Farrell would score on a 9-yard run making this a 20-0 game letting us know who was going to be feeling better and who was going to be wishing for more time to get the ship heading in the right direction. Before the half came to an end Carson Ward would keep the shutout intact with a pick in the end zone.

Sallee made his presence felt again when he got to Douglas for a loss of three yards.  The Eagles shook off the loss and responded a short time later with an 11-yard scoring tun from Everitt to give us a 26-0 game, with 8:01 left in the third.

Caleb La Mar, who had a rough game up would see his day get worse after he caught a pass but coughed the ball up with 5:15 left in the game making the recovery for the Eagles was Corbin Alexander. One thing I noticed about La Mar was he never allowed his body language to show the kind of game he had. I think the kid will come out next week and look like a different player.

We would see the score ballon to 34-0 on a 3-yard run from Jack Ryan. Ryan did not tote the rock much but when he did he punished would-be tacklers. The biggest hit in the game came when Carson Ward blasted Retherford though a flag was thrown for the helmet hitting the head taking the play away but not the pain that was delivered.

The final score of the game came with 6:34 left on a 25-yard field goal from Colson Falink to make this a 37-0 game.

Keegan Moss a bully-type runner who goes 5-9,215 would pick up 19-yards on a run that took nearly six Eagles to tackle him. Why the kid was not handed the ball more only the coach knows. The last big play of the game came from as one would expect from the Eagles and their defense, with Nathaniel Warren recovering the rock when Drake Jackson put it on the turf.
