Friday would mark my first trip to New Era Field in Orchard Park, New York and also b mark my first time watching the Section six finals.
Tickets for these games, two on Friday and Three on Saturday is ran very well and very fan friendly, unlike many states, especially Ohio and Kentucky. Parking is free and 10 bucks gets you both games on Friday and then Saturday with the extra game, the ticket price and parking price remain the same.
Game one Pitted Albion up against WNY Maritime-Health Sciences. Both teams entered with identical 8-1 records and both had high expectations as far as this mega battle was concerned. The crowd was basically bunched together, with a rope and one section separating them. This made for some loud sounding cheering as the game dictated. WNYMHS wasted no time lighting up the scoreboard, with the dangerous Addison Copeland going 62 yards on a nasty punt return to make this a 6-0 game, with 10:19 still left in the opening quarter. WNYMHS a short time later get a 16 yard run by John Washington on a nice looking misdirection play. On the same drive Jion Washington would connect with Mekhi Bridges on a pass, that set up first and goal from the Albion 1 yard line, with 3:21 left. Maurice Vaughn would make it 12-0, with his one yard plunge into the end zone, with 3:17 left quarter.

Albion would get things started with a 19 yard run by Deyonci Farley and a 15 yard run by Brilliance Johnson to set up a 5 yard run from Farley, with 5:29 left in the half. The PAT by Thomas was wide left to leave this a 12-6 game. The Purple Eagles defense would get a nice play, when Tyray White got to WNYMHS Jion Washington for a 6 yard loss. The Falcons would respond with a 16 yard run by John Washington, after a very high snap to Jion Washington to make this a 18-6 game. On the two point conversion try John Washington picked up a fumble and scored to make this a 20-6 game, with :26 seconds left in the half. John Washington ended the half with a pick on a Thomas Furmanski pass.

Jion Washington hooked up with Demetrius Potts for a 91 yard gain, with 8:45 left in the third , from there Maurice Vaughn crossed the goal line to make this a 26-6 just :13 seconds later. The Purple Eagles would respond with a 3 play, 58 yard drive, that ended on a Furmanski to Kevin Hillman 25 yard touchdown pass. Johnson brilliantly ran the ball in for the two point conversion making this a 26-14 game, with 7:49 left in the third quarter. Before the quarter came to a close, Bryce Kelly of the Purple Eagles would stop Addison Copeland on a fake punt try.

It was the Purple Eagles defense who spoke first in the final frame, when Chris Shabazz recovered a Falcons fumble. Their offense would go on a 11 play, 70 yard drive, that ended on a 24 yard touchdown run from Farley, making this a 26-20 game with 6:54 left. On the ensuing kickoff, John Washington fielded the ball and raced all the way to the Purple Eagles 4 yard line. He then took the ball the final four yards to make this a 32-20 game. It would be two plays by each team defense that stood out before the game ended. The first would be a Anthony Freeman recovering a fumble by the Falcons Bridges and for the Falcons it would be a safety recorded, when the ball was snapped over Furmanski’s head and rolled out of the end zone to make the final score 34-20 Falcons.
