I could not find current full rosters online, so I sadly can only use the players numbers. If anyone who reads this is from either school you can send me the player’s name to match the number and I will do some editing. This was my first trip to Maryland to watch high school football. I want to thank the powers that be at Pikesville for allowing PAFOOTBALLNEWS the opportunity to cover the game.

New Town would get a fine 16-yard run b #6 to set the tone for this game. A short time after the run #14 hauled in a nicely thrown ball from #3 to pick up 20-yards, with 8:25 left in the opening quarter. The 8-play, 57-yard drive concluded on a 1-yard score from #6. By the end of the day #, 6 would make it clear he is going to be a force in the spring season. A two-point conversion pass would fall incomplete keeping this a 6-0 New Town lead, with 7:35 showing on the clock.

After shutting down the Pikesville offense #24 for New Town pushed a lineman backward causing the punt to hit the lineman with the result being a first down for New Town at the Pikesville 15-yard line. This became a 14-0 game, on a 10-yard score by #14 followed by a two-point conversion run from #4.

#24 would return the Pikesville punt nearly 35-yards for a score that was followed by a two-point conversion pass from#3 to #12 making this a 22-0 game, with 4:02left in the fast-paced one-sided opening quarter. The rest of the quarter played on with neither team putting any points up.

Pikesville was facing a fourth and seven with 8:23 left in the half when #15 made a sweet catch to pick up the first down but in his excitement he spiked the ball getting a big 15-yard penalty. The drive ended a short time later without any points be put up. New Town would get a LaMont Jordan-like run from #6 that totaled 34-yards with 4:13 left in the half. #6 then picked up 20-yards on a sweet run after taking in a nicely ran screen pass. #14 would make a big-time catch for New Town that took the ball down to the Pikesville one, then from there #6 made this a 28-0 by going the final yard, with 2:47 left in the half. The final big play of the half came on a 30-yard run by #4. The New Town running game was deep and fast aided by some great work by the big guys up front.

The third quarter was mostly a defensive battle where neither team allowed a point. Pikesville offense would get two nice plays with the first coming on a 39-yard catch by #9 on a ball thrown by #3. The Pikesville passing game really never materialized because the defensive line for New Town was a dominating force all game long. #88 for Pikesville would make a nice sliding catch for a gain of 10-yards when his team was facing a third and ten. The final big play of the quarter came from the New Town defense when #11 picked off a pass and looked to have taken it back nearly 96-yards for a score but a flag on the return negated the score.

The fourth quarter would see New Town score twice. First, #36 powered in from five-yards out followed by a two-point conversion pass to #12 making this a 36-0 game. The final score came on a 40yard run also by #36 making the final score 42-0.
