My first game in the state of Virginia was played in a snowstorm for three quarters with a steady stream of rain in the final frame. From my advantage point which put me at the top of the bleachers on the home side pressed up against the press box, the players seem to be having fun but they all looked to be having problems with slipping issues as one would expect.

Noah Campbell broke off a good run for Wilson Memorial but cough the ball up damage was avoided when teammate Luke Baily pounced on the ball to keep the drive alive. The Waynesboro defense would roll their sleeves up and get tough with the results coming like this At the 7:23 mark Deandre Clark stopped Dajor Scott for a loss of four yards. Taylin Henderson, a tough-looking Sophomore would make two nice plays, he first stopped Scott on fourth and one for a yard loss forcing a turnover on downs. Later in the quarter he again got to Scott for a two-yard loss. With the quarter flying by, the clock read 1:25 left when

Skyler Whiting picked up eight yards on a run that would have gone for a lot more if not for Michael Smith making a nice tackle. The drive came to a close with 39.2 seconds left on a Carter eight-yard touchdown run. Jesus Rodriguez was given credit for a power two-point conversion run making this an 8-0 game.

The weather allowed the defenses two dominate the second quarter but with 3:55 left TeShawn Gamble broke free for a 67-yard touchdown run. The distance is a guess because you could not see the yard line markers due to the snow coupled with the fact someone had forgotten to put the sideline number up. Ryan Barbour locked this one up at eight apiece, with his two-point conversion run. With 1:12 left in the half, a bad snap ended with Daquan Bright recovering a fumble to give Waynesboro the ball. The Green Hornets overcame the turnover by quickly getting the ball back and then scoring with 11.3 seconds left in the half. Getting the score on a 40-yard touchdown catch was Ryan Mundie. The pass from Kaden Welcher was as good as it could have been with the snow coming down hard. Henry Fosnocht made god on his P.A.T. making this a 15-8 game.

The third quarter had 8:56 left when Little Giants quarterback Michael Smith found Gamble for 27-yards but an unsportsmanlike penalty negated the big play. Then with 6:41 showing on the clock, Smith somehow avoided a blizzard of a rush heaved the ball downfield Julian Carson somehow came down with it for what appeared a big gain but he coughed the ball up and making the recovery for the Hornets was Skyler Whiting. The Hornets would sting the Little Giants again when

Kaden Welcher read the defense like a book to score on a fine 290yard run. The P.A.T. was good making this a 22-8 game, with 5:17 left in the quarter. The Hornets defense would get a sweet play from Cameron Sprouse who stopped Smith for a loss of three. A little over sixty seconds later Derek Wakefield picked Smith off and return the ball back to the Little Giants seventeen-yard line. Trent Gruver took the rock eight-yards to make this a 28-8 game, with 18.6 seconds left on the clock. The quarter came to a close when Smith fumbled the ball and Logan Koogler made the recovery for the Little Giants.

The final frame had two plays that stuck out, with the rain coming down. First Skyler Whiting scored from five yards out to make the final score 35-8. Waynesboro would get one last nice play from Taylin Henderson when he stopped Marshall Hubbard for a short loss. As a neutral fan from Buckeye Lake, Ohio I will say you Henderson was the one player who stuck out to me in this game. That kid has a bright future in this game if he puts in the work.
