The Tigers of McKeesport played host to Propel Braddock Hills, defeating them by a score of 21-18 in a back-and-forth battle that saw four lead changes. Propel struck first in the opening quarter on a 33-yard touchdown pass from Gabe Jenkins to #13 Williams, making the score 6-0 after a failed 2-point conversion.
McKeesport answered in the second quarter on a 2-yard touchdown run from Kemon Spell, cutting the lead to 7-6 after a successful PAT. Jaiden Williams wasted no time responding, taking the ensuing kickoff back for a touchdown to push Propel’s lead to 12-7. McKeesport battled back once more, connecting on a 10-yard touchdown pass to Tyshawn Robinson to retake the lead, 13-12, after a blocked PAT. That was the score at halftime.
McKeesport extended its lead in the third quarter on a 51-yard touchdown run from quarterback Jordan Stuvaints, making it 21-12 after a successful 2-point pass. Jenkins kept Propel within striking distance, scoring his second touchdown of the night on a 14-yard run to cut the deficit to 21-18 after a failed PAT.
Neither team found the end zone in the fourth quarter, as the two teams traded turnovers down the stretch. McKeesport came up with the biggest stop of the night, recovering a fumble at their own 10-yard line with 47 seconds remaining to seal the win.
McKeesport improves to 2-2 and will host Peters Township next Friday. Propel falls to 2-2 and will visit Our Lady of the Sacred Heart.
