Let’s get to know Charlie

What is the best part of playing high school football?

Being able to play for your school under the lights on Friday and have a true brotherhood with my teammates.

What are your personal goals for the upcoming season?

I want to improve as much as possible and throw 15+ TDs and 1,500+ yards and win.

What are you looking forward to the most this season?

he opening of our new stadium and our new head coach. He was our offensive coordinator last year and has put in a great system. Also, I win with my teammates each week.

What has been your biggest accomplishment as an athlete heading into this season?

A big accomplishment personally was becoming a captain as a junior this season and last year during the track season I broke my school’s javelin record.

What has been your biggest embarrassment as an athlete?

Not being able to win every time I step on the field.

Who is the one teammate you lean on when things are going bad?

One of my teammates that I have become super close to the past couple of years is one of our ribs/lb Zachary Zindle. He is also from the Boston area just like me and came in as a freshman and we have bonded ever since.

Have you heard from any schools as far as playing at the next level? If so, would you name some of them?

I toured UPenn last spring and saw a practice, and have talked to a few other coaches that have visited Hill like Towson and Villanova. Also, I have talked to a coach from UAlbany.

What are your expectations for the team leading into the opening game?

I have high expectations for us in week 1. We are playing Germantown Academy which we lost to last year at their stadium 28-21. We are going to have a big ceremony for the opening of our new stadium so a lot of people will be there so I think we have a good chance to show out for the fans and win. We are a small team this year with not much depth, but we are well-conditioned and I expect us to be 100% for the full 4 quarters.

Coming off of a 3-6 2022 season, how important is it for you guys to kick the season off with a win?

We did go 3-6 which was disappointing because we were within one score or winning in 7 of the 9 games at halftime. We ran out of gas so this year we have conditioned a lot more. Winning week 1 would be a huge confidence booster going into the season because it will give the team more hope for a winning season which will translate to better practices, film study, and attitude throughout the year.

What are you going to remember the most from the 2022 season?

What I remember most about last season is just being so close to winning and not being able to finish the games. I remember that the most because I want that to change this year.

Which road game are you looking forward to the most this season, along with the reason why?

I am looking forward to playing at Kiski this season because we are staying there overnight this year which we didn’t do my freshman year. Also, I think it should be a good game because last year when we beat them, it was a close game.

What makes playing for The Hill School so special?

Playing for The Hill School is super special to me because my grandfather played her many years ago and is still involved in the Hill community so when I was growing up I visited Hill with him. The history is unique because of the rivalry with Lawrenceville and the connection with the Alumni. Also, the community that Hill has is special because everyone is involved in what is going on here. I have had many people come up to me and ask about the game on Friday because they care about the teams that represent the school.

What scares you?

Something that scares me is that we are dissatisfied with how the season goes and not winning many games. Also, injuries can hurt our team if we aren’t careful.

What are your favorite and least favorite foods?

My favorite food is steak and my least favorite food is peas.

Who is your all-time favorite athlete?

My all-time favorite athlete is Rob Gronkowski because I grew up watching the Patriots dynasty and watched him dominate every year.
