The 2020 season has brought some unexpected locations for me to get to with today being par for the course. I made my first ever drive to Steubenville Catholic Central, to see the first-ever varsity game played at Leo Buffone Field and I am going to recommend this field to everyone, who likes seeing games at small school stadiums. Seating is on the away side only, though that is where the home fans set, while the visiting fans set on A big hill in lawn chairs, blankets, or the tailgate of trucks.

The Catholic Central defense set the tone of this one midway through the opening quarter with Vince Carapellotti sacking Colin Jackson for A loss of 12-yards.  Switching to the offensive side of the ball Carapellotti would pick up 18-yards on A nasty run. The drive ended when Catholic Central decided to go for it on fourth and five, from the five when Andrew Dorsey pass to A wide-open Ryan Gorman fell to the ground. The scoreless quarter came to A close with Brayden Rauch and Aidan Hendricks stopping Mason Alberts for no gain, after a nice catch.

Ryan Gorman would connect with Primo Toriscelli for A gain close to 15-yards. The 8-play, 56-yard drive ended on A Gorman to Carapellotti 19-yard touchdown pass. Jack Rook should off his strong leg to make this A 7-0 game, with 7:43 left in the half. Carapellotti would jump on A Bulldog fumble to give the Fighting Crusaders the ball right back. Gorman would find Dorsey over the middle for A 22-yard pick up. The drive ended with Gorman sprinting in from 8-yards out making this A 14-0 game, with the P.A.T. being good. The Bulldogs offense finally started showing signs of life, when Jackson hit Quinton Burlenski for 7-yards, then he found Alberts for the first down. Joey Bugaj found some daylight to pick up 12-yards. Jackson kept the drive going with A completion of 40-yards to Quinten Burlenski. Things soured for the Bulldogs when  Carapellotti picked off the Jackson pass and then sprinted nearly 90-yard for the score making this A 21-0 game, after another successful P.A.T.

Joey Bugaj sacked Dorsey for A 11-yard loss to get the third frame going. Rook used his legs to cover 51-yards on another wicked run. The Bulldogs defense recovered right away with Jon Bugaj sacking Dorsey for A loss of four. The score grew to 28-0 when Dorsey scored from 14-yards out. Joey Bugaj would find enough room to pick up 27-yards on A very nice run. Bugaj would meet Tate McKenna three straight times, with McKenna holding Bugaj to minus 2-yards.  The Fighting Crusaders would get one last big defensive play before the quarter ended and that was A Nico Petrella tackle for A 5-yard loss on Burlenski.

Two scores, one from each team and one fumble recovery would highlight the final frame. Catholic Central got A nice 28-yard field goal from Rook, while The Bulldogs would get A Jackson to Joey Bugaj 29-yard touchdown pass, with Jackson to Burlenski two-point Conversion to give us the final score of 31-8. Making the fumble recovery was Alberts.
