I drove down to St. Vincent yesterday, just a beautiful campus in Latrobe to see some young local men playing at the next level. A couple of Marion Center grads were playing, one on each sideline. Last year Collin Anderson was the GRSN linemen of the year, this year he is the starting center for the Bearcats. TJ Lynn who I can remember catching passes at MC four years ago is now a senior receiver for the Presidents. I also got to see a few of the regulars I got to watch on Friday nights when I was covering the LHAC. Richland’s Kellan Stahl is the starting quarterback, and his Ram teammate Aidan Thomas is still sacking quarterbacks. Bishop Guilfoyle lineman Anthony Edwards and  Ligonier Valley back Nick Beitel. Not to mention Marauders kicker Devan Wyandt who I spent a lot of time talking to on the sidelines during many BG playoff runs.

The game was lopsided, but I had a good time watching the game. I talk to a lot of good athletes who want to play D1. There is nothing wrong with playing D2 or D3 football, it is good quality football. There is no use setting on the bench at Penn State when you can play somewhere else. Your education is what is important. Don’t give up on that dream.

Stahl 19 for 27 254 yds 2 TDs 1 Int

Beitel 3 solo tackles

Thomas 3 tackles 2 TFL & a pick

Wyandt 2 punts 44.0 avg PAT 8 for 8
