Head Coach Dave Gueriera describes Philip as “a relentless defender. who eats space up at NG with outstanding strength and toughness. Occupies double teams at the line of scrimmage and can probably beat their combined SAT score. Possesses a work ethic that motivates the whole team. Talented heavyweight wrestler – took 2nd at Prep States”.

Why do you play football? I play football because find the sport fun & want to be the best that I can be & achieve the most I can.

Current GPA? I have a 4.3 GPA

What offers/interest do you have? I don’t have offers yet but I’ve been talking to a wide variety of schools. I am focusing on high academic schools such as the Ivies.

Upon enrolling in college what do you plan to major in? I don’t know yet, but likely History or Business, but I’m keeping my options open.

Favorite class? Any history or social studies class.

Favorite athlete of all time? Former Malvern wrestler Nick Feldman. He is the best wrestler & athlete I’ve ever seen, and more importantly the hardest worker & a great guy.

Favorite HS moment thus far? Last year when we beat Imhotep. I have never taken part in such an exhilarating conclusion to a game, and I nearly had a heart attack. But we pulled through and it may have been one of the happiest moments of my life.

How was the 2022 season for you? I think this past season went really went well for me, especially as a first-year starter. It was the culmination of months of work & really advanced me as a player. It was frustrating not to achieve all of our team goals though.

2023 Individual & Team Goals? For both me and the team, I think just improve on last year. We were close to having it all last year and I think that with a few changes and some hard work we will be right back in it.

Favorite Football Game of all-time to watch? Superbowl 52, Need I say more?

Favorite meal? I like all food equally, hence I am a lineman.

Favorite play to run? I love to line up heads up against a center. I feel like I can cause the most trouble for an offense from there.

Hobbies outside of sports? I like to read books & study history.

What scares you the most? Those caves that people crawl through. You couldn’t pay me $1 million to step anywhere near a tight cave.

Who is the most inspirational person in your life? My parents. They’ve been with me each step of the way & continue to encourage me to challenge myself.

Favorite pre-game music? Hard rock/metal. Nothing gets my blood going like Metallica.

Best teammate? Kevin Miller, he may be the most positive person I know, and he had a great impact on our team.

Did you play little league football? If so what organization? I played 5 years at LAFA.

What should people know about Malvern Prep? There is no place, at least that I know of, with as strong of a brotherhood that we have.

Cheesesteak or Hoagie? And what shop has the best sandwich? Cheesesteak and as I don’t have a favorite as previously stated I’m an lineman I just love food!!
