Saltsburg: The Kiski School built a 25-0 lead, then held off Riverdale Baptist 31-22 Saturday afternoon.

“We’re happy and excited about how the kids played today,” said Kiski School head coach Bo Buran.

The Cougars shined in all three aspects of the game and improved their record a 3-4 on the season.

The Kiski School cracked the scoreboard first on Joshua Barlow’s 25-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter.

Barlow rushed for 76 yards on 16 carries while adding one catch for seven yards.

The Cougars extended their lead on Markese Williams’ 41-yard touchdown reception from Mathew Shea in the second quarter.

Kiski School led 12-0 at halftime.

Barlow then returned the second-half kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown, then added a 3-yard touchdown run with 1:57 to play in the third quarter giving the Cougars a 25-0 lead.

“We played a soild game overall,” Buran said. “They made a couple of plays against us, but our kids stayed the course, and plays like that kickoff return helped us get it done today.”

Riverdale Baptist scored back-to-back touchdowns as Ade Olanegan tossed touchdowns of 56 yards to Chris Harrison and 50 yards to Isaiah Watts.

Following an unsuccessful onside kick, Williams then scored on a 51-yard run. Markese Williams rushed twice for 46 yards while catching four passes for 54 yards.

“Markese is a kid that has gotten better with every game this season,” Buran said. “He gets better at everything he does, and today was a big game for him.”

Riverdale Baptist closed the scoring on Harrison’s 17-yard touchdown from Olanegan.

Ade Olanegan completed 22-of-49 passes for 283 yards and three touchdowns with an interception.

Chris Harrison caught six passes for a game-high 121 yards and two touchdowns. Kedrick Glasper added six receptions for 79 yards, while Isaiah Watts chipped in with a touchdown and six catches for 68 yards.

Riverdale Baptist falls to 2-5 on the season.

Kiski School rushed for 283 yards on the game, with Andrew Baublitz gaining 78 yards on six carries, with quarterback Mathew Shea adding 46 yards on the ground to go with Barlow’s 76.

“We committed to the ground today, especially in the second half when we wanted to run the clock,” Buran concluded. “Our line has improved greatly from the beginning of the season, and I’m proud of our progress.”
