The Kiski School Cougars defeated defending Virginia state independent school champions the Blue Ridge School Barons in St. George, VA on Saturday, 47-3. Kiski came off of a bye week with a 5-2 record, having not lost a road game all season.

Team captain Levi Porter returned the opening kickoff 85 yards for a TD to put Kiski up 7-0 after a Lewin Tauberschmidt (Rosengarten, Germany) PAT. Blue Ridge would drive to the Kiski 13 yard line, gashing the Cougar defense for several long running plays. Kiski’s defense would tighten up in the redzone and stop the Barons, forcing them to settle for a 30-yard FG by kicker Mason Snyder.

The Cougars would go right back to work the next drive, driving from their own 19 to the Blue Ridge 2, where Porter would carry for a TD to put Kiski up 14-3. The quarter would close with Sergio DuBois (Mexico City, Mexico) making a 28-yard punt return to give Kiski the ball at the Blue Ridge 29 to start the 2ndquarter. The Cougars would ride RB Max McMillan (Morris Plains, NJ) on this drive. McMillan would carry 3 times to put Kiski up 21-3 after a Tauberschmidt PAT.

A Blue Ridge three and out with a punt set Kiski up near midfield. QB Mac Armstrong (Angola, IN) immediately hit WR Elan McCrorey (Plainsboro, NJ) in stride for a 45 yard TD pass to put the Cougars up 28-3. On the next Blue Ridge drive, DE Hunter Richardson (Allison Park, PA) would get a strip sack and recover the fumble, setting Kiski’s offense up at the Baron’s 19 yard line. Tauberschmidt would convert a 28 yard FG to put Kiski up 31-3. Tauberschmidt would then turn around the next defensive series and jump a short pass, intercepting it and racing 45 yards for a TD. He capped his return with the PAT to extend the Kiski lead to 38-3 at halftime.

In the 3rd quarter, Levi Porter would punt the ball to the Blue Ridge 1-yard line. The next play, Porter and LB Adrian Valdez (New Kensington, PA) would tackle the runner in the end zone for a Safety, increasing the score to 40-3.  Kiski’s defense would not permit the Barons to move the ball the rest of the 3rd and 4thquarters. The Cougars would methodically drive the ball one more time to the Blue Ridge 6-yard line, where Armstrong would connect with RB Dean Stevens (Hinesburg, VT) for a 6-yard TD pass that was the game’s final score. A final PAT by Tauberschmidt would cement the victory, 47-3.

This was Kiski’s biggest offensive output since its week 1 victory over the Irish National Team in Dublin. The defense was again tremendous. The defensive line, led by Senior DT

Jeremy Bjick (Dresden, Germany), relentlessly pressured the Blue Ridge QB, forcing hurried throws and stopping the Barons run game.

Kiski’s record improves to 6-2, while Blue Ridge sinks to 4-5 on the season.  The Cougars will return home next Saturday afternoon to host the Linsly School (Wheeling, WV) for Homecoming in their final contest of the season.
