Three Touchdown Performance by Darryl Davis-McNeil Paves Way To Homecoming Win.

KUTZTOWN- The Blueprint this season for the Kutztown University Golden Bears is to run the ball and behind Davis-McNeil and Jordan Davis, they did just that to the tune of 289 yards while just throwing for 93 in a 35-7 dismantling of the Bald Eagles of Lock Haven University Saturday afternoon at a packed homecomibg crowd at Andre Red Stadium.

Davis-McNeil carried the ball just 15 times but scored three touchdowns for a game-high 147 yards. His first score came on a four yard run with 3:40 left in the opening quarter for a 14-0 lead capping off a nine play 63 yard drive.

Running back Jordan Davis got the scoring started for Kutztown with a 5 yard score at the 5:57 mark of the first quarter for a 7-0 lead as the Bald Eagles failed to sustain their opening drive of the contest by a stout athletic Golden Bear defense that only allowed 144 yards of total offense. 82 of which came on a late fourth quarter drive.

With 5:22 left before halftime Davis-McNeil would score his second rushing touchdown on a two yard run making it 21-0. Quarterback Donny Blaine would get into the act with a two yard bootleg run around the end with 36 seconds on the clock and a 28-0 lead at intermission. Blaine was efficient in the passing game completing 8 of 15 passes for 90 yards, he also rushed for an addition 18 yards.

The Golden Bears wasted little time in scoring their fifth and final touchdown of the game on the opening drive of the second half using just five plays to go 80 yards when again Davis-McNeil would find the end zone from 10 yards out to make it 35-0.

The Bald Eagles managed to avoid being shutout in the fourth quarter as quarterback Matt Stanton capped off a 13 play 82 yard drive with a one yard dive with 11:50 left in the game.

Coach Jim Clements of Kutxtown was satisfied with his team overall perforsvillemance, “Running the ball is Kutztown football. Our O-line opened up holes for both our backs Jodan Davis and Davis-McNeil. We try not to turn the ball over, but we had those mistakes and we got to keep that from happening, We have big game coming up with Millersville and we can’t make those mistakes.” He stated.

Darryl Davis-McNeil had this to say about his performance Saturday afternoon.

Kutztown (6-2, 4-1) will be on the road at Millersville (3-5, 3-2) next Saturday. Lock Haven (1-8, 0-5) will be at West Chester (4-4, 2-3)
