In Nebraska, 8-man playoffs start a week before 11-man. In the first round of the Class D1 and Class D2 playoffs were held on Thursday. Most of them at night, though a few were in the afternoon. Defending state champions, the Sandy Creek Cougars, opened at home against Exeter-Milligan/Friend, the Bobcats, at “The Hill”, a picturesque field located southwest of the high school building east of Fairfield.
The game started competitive. As EMF went down the field, down eight, to look for the tying score. After the TD, were unable to convert the two-point attempt and from then on it was all Sandy Creek. Winning via a running clock, 60-14.
