63-6, 56-0, 57-6, 70-0, 75-0, 81-6. Those are just a few of the 91 games that have been decided by 50 points or more this year. And we’re only in week 8. History shows there will be more blowouts like that in the next 3-4 weeks. What good comes from continuing a game like that? Why not just stop the game when the lead hits 50? Is the current 35 point mercy rule effective enough? Do younger players actually get “good reps” when they’re either up or down 50?
