When Protime was in the service he was assigned to KP duty like everyone is at some point. One day as he was opening a can of juice, Protime cut his finger so severely that he required a couple of stitches. The next day he was designated to peel potatoes and once again he sliced himself. The following day he was delegated to making pancakes in a spotless area of the kitchen that was painted white. Protime was shown the art of flipping the flapjacks and left to himself.
Protime, hurrying too much to fill the demand, flipped a cake too high and it stuck to the ceiling. He found a broom to get it off the white ceiling, but unbeknownst to him the broom was dirty and as he scrapped the flapjack, he left black streaks on the ceiling. Then, hurrying to put cooked cakes into a pan, he spilled the big container of batter all over the place. Later, when trying to clean up the mess he slipped and knocked a pile of dishes off the shelf breaking all but one. The sergeant, who ran the kitchen, was not a happy camper when he saw the mess moments later. “Protime, what do you predict I should do with you,” he shouted.
Thus, the idea came to him, Protime Predictions. Last week the Savvy Soldierly Soothsayer went 28-2 pushing the prognostication tabulation for the year to 226-54 for an 80.7% correctness rate. We have only five weeks left and the cream is rising. Here are this week’s playoff picks from around the state.
Seneca Valley 8-3 @ North Allegheny 10-0 – NA only beat SV 10-6 earlier this year, so expect another close one. The Tigers are led by their star running back, Ben Maenza. He has toted the ball for 1,035 yards and 17 TDs. Kicker Isaac West has made 5 field goals and may well be the difference maker. NA’s defense is led by Cade Hoke. QB Gabe Lawson leads the Raider ‘O’ with his 1,009 yards passing and 10 TD tosses. He also has rushed for 7 scores. WR Josh McLean has caught 7 TD passes. This should be fun if you like low scoring, hard hitting football. Protime likes the NA Tigers by three whiskers, 17-14.
