PROTIME PREDICTIONS 2019 Week Two! Who ya got??

Tagged under: News, Protime Predictions

| September 4, 2019

A couple of weeks ago the Protime family visited relatives in Annapolis, MD to celebrate Mrs. Protime’s birthday.  Now these relatives have a real nice place and have some fancy things that Protime isn’t used to seeing back in his neck of the woods.  Take for example the pepper used for Mrs. P’s wonderful birthday dinner.

The salt was in a salt shaker, but the pepper was in a small glass bottle and it appeared there were no flakes inside, just little pepper pellets.  When Protime failed to find the opening, he pulled hard on the part that grinds (as he found out later) because it rotated and he thought it was the lid.  Suddenly hundreds of little pepper balls came bouncing and hopping out all over the place.  For the rest of the visit people occasionally crushed a pepper ball when walking in the area of the accidental spill.

Well, it was no accident that Protime went 23-3 last week which included picking Clearfield and Penns Valley to score 100 points (they scored 105).  For the year he has 42 wins against 10 losses for an 80.8% accuracy rating.  This week, Protime is attempting to ascertain the victor in 19 games involving undefeated teams.  And now on with the predictions by high school football’s Prophet of Premonition.

Windber 2-0 @ Portage 2-0 – Protime will be heading into Mustang country for what appears to be a real slobber-knocker.  The Windber Ramblers and their old-fashioned single wing are a run first team and are led by their freshman workhorse, John Shuster, who has rambled for 405 yards and 6 scores on 60 carries in two games.  WR Evan Custer has hauled down 6 passes for 153 yards.  The Portage Mustangs have dual threat Connor Price at QB.  He has 4 TD tosses and 2 more TDs rushing.  Leading Mustang ground gainer is Gabe Forst.  Protime flipped a coin to determine the victor ……….  Portage 28 Windber 21.

Bethlehem Freedom 2-0 @ Parkland 2-0 – Freedom has another stiff test after scoring late to defeat Becahi last week.  Parkland is looking to regain their position as king of 6A in District 11.  The Patriots’ Jared Jenkins has tossed the agate for 371 yards and 5 TDs, while RB Jalen Stewart is a threat anytime he touches the ball.  The Trojans have Tanner Lewis taking snaps.  He can pass (183 yards) or run (119 yards – 3 TDs).  Isiah Rico is back and is in mid-season form.  He has rushed for 233 yards and 3 scores including 209 yards the first week.  Protime’s crystal ball says it will be nip and tuck the whole way with Freedom winning 17-14.

Manheim Central 2-0 @ Warwick 2-0 – Woo-wee, this is gonna be a game! Evan Simon, the Barons’ QB and future Rutgers Scarlet Knight, is back stronger than ever.  Evan, who plays safety on defense, and LB Chris Pagano are the top tacklers.  The Warriors have their own top-notch quarterback in Joey McCracken (338 yards and 4 TDs).  On the line protecting Joey is the 6’8” 275-pound Nolan Rucci, who is only a junior and has a ton of D-1 offers.  Protime envisions an upset with Warwick winning 27-24.

Hollidaysburg 2-0 @ State College 2-0 – The Golden Tigers are surprising people so far.  QB Bryan Martellacci has 220 yards passing and scored 4 TDs running.  Trent Paddock has traversed for 224 yards and 3 scores on the ground.  For the Little Lions, QB Brady Dorner has thrown for 259 yards, while RB Dresyn Green has scurried for 201 markers and 3 TDs.  St. College 31 Hollidaysburg 13.

Penn Wood 2-0 @ Northeast 2-0 – Good match-up down east with the Patriots taking on the Vikings.  (Could this be the Super Bowl opponents?)  Penn Wood has a 6’2” 240-pound QB in Desmond Johnson, Jr.  He has 448 yards passing and 3 TDs plus 5 TDs running.  Patriot linebacker, Robert Dahn already has 28 tackles on the year.  Northeast is led offensively by RB Jon-Luke ‘Jukes’ Peaker.  CB Shuayb ‘Shoes’ Brinkley has 3 picks to date to lead the Viking defense.  Protime’s crystal ball says Northeast 20 and Penn Wood 18.

Karns City 2-0 @ Clarion 2-0 – The K.C. Gremlins are led by QB Anthony Kamenski (260 yards and 2 TDs rushing).  He did pass for over 100 last week with a couple of scores.  RB Mitchell Kelsea has 3 TDs.  The Bobcats’ RB Austin Newcomb has amassed 270 yards and scored 8 TDs (6 rushing).  QB Cal German has thrown for 383 yards and 6 TDs.  Bobcats 38 Gremlins 34.

North Schuylkill 2-0 @ Wyomissing 2-0 – If you live in the area and you are a high school football fan, shame on you for not going to see this contest.  They’ll be Spartans all over the field!!  The No. Schuylkill Spartans are led by Jaden Leiby.  The signal-caller has 214 yards passing with 4 TDs and 294 yards rushing with 3 TDs.  On defense, LB Tyler Elsdon is always around the ball.  The Wyomissing Spartans are led by RB Max Hurleman and his 264 yards and 5 TDs.  Protime gives what little edge there is to the Spartans ………… of North Schuylkill 22-20.

Erie Cathedral Prep 2-0 @ McKeesport 2-0 – Mike Mischler’s Ramblers lost a bit from last year, but doesn’t appear to have slowed them down this year.  QB Collin Johnson has 324 passing yards with 3 TDs and RB Luke Sittinger has 216 yards with 7 scores.  The triple threat offense of the McKeesport Tigers seldom passes.  They are led by quarterback ‘Dangerous’ Devari Robinson and his 8 touchdowns.  Hard to bet against the Ramblers though.  Erie Prep 27 McKeesport 20.

Jersey Shore 2-0 @ Montoursville 2-0 – The Bulldogs have Tanner Lorson barking the signals.  He has been a dual-threat master to date, with 479 yards passing (6 TDs) and 244 yards rushing (5 TDs).  The Warriors of Montoursville are an equal opportunity rushing team as 12 different backs have positive yardage.  Their top scorer by Protime’s estimation is the kicker, Collin Gorini, who has nailed all 16 extra points and a field goal.  Flip a coin on this one.  Montoursville triumphs in a squeaker, 45-42.

Belle Vernon 1-0 @ Thomas Jefferson 2-0 – The Leopards prowl into Jaguar country for a vital 4A contest.  Belle Vernon’s RB Larry Calloway scored 3 times last week.  QB Shane Stump heads up TJ’s offense.  He has thrown for 294 yards and 4 touchdowns while running more this year (138 yards so far).  WR Preston Zandier has 149 receiving yards and 2 TDs.  TJ takes it 24-14.

Chartiers-Houston 2-0 @ West Greene 2-0 – Char-Houston’s defense has not allowed a point in 2 games.  They are led by Lane Camden.  The Buccaneers offense are led by QB Anthony Lento and RB Sam Dewalt.  For West Greene, Benjamin ‘Bo’ Jackson has 419 yards for the run-oriented Pioneer attack.  Andrew Litton heads up a rough bunch of Pioneers on defense.  Home team wins 28-13.

The Others:

Southern Columbia 42 Selinsgrove 14 – The Tigers are an impressive football team as the Seals will find out.

North Allegheny 17 Pittsburgh Central Catholic 13 – The last couple years have been a bear to pick 6A games in District 7.  So, with a coin flip Protime has the Tigers over the Vikings.

Ridley 26 Strath Haven 24 – Close game between two pretty good teams, but the Green Raiders defeat the Panthers.  Side Note: Protime saw Strath Haven’s band a few years back and was very impressed.

Bellwood-Antis 16 Juniata Valley 14 – Blue Devils swat away the Hornets in a tight one.

Southern Lehigh 34 Notre Dame Green Pond 28 – Should be a tremendous game with the Spartans outdueling the Crusaders.

Slippery Rock 28 Franklin 19 – Ian Haynes is the #2 all-time passer in D-10, but he and his Knights will not be able to shoot by the Rockets.

Coatesville 31 Cumberland Valley 21 – Another game against a District 3 opponent for the Red Raiders.  This time they win at the Eagles expense.

Central Valley 24 Beaver Falls 17 – The Warriors survive the Tigers.

Manheim Township 21 Central Dauphin 17 – A must see in District 3.  The Blue Streaks’ sheer determination elicits the win over the Rams.

Penns Valley 42 Bald Eagle Area 35 This week the P.V. Rams win in the waning seconds of the game in beating the Eagles.  (Note: Ram QB, Aaron Tobias is now the Centre Co. career TD passing leader.)

Wyoming Area 35 Northwest Area 12 – The Wyoming Warriors are for real this year.  The Rangers will be their third victim toward an undefeated season?

Maplewood 27 West Middlesex 24 – The Tigers eke out a win.  They haven’t been scored on this year, but they haven’t played a team like the Big Red either.

Blue Mountain 30 Hamburg 14 – The Eagles outfly the Hawks.

Redbank Valley 14 Elk County Catholic 8 – A key District 9 single A matchup pits the Bulldogs with the Crusaders.  ‘Dogs’ come out on top.

Berwick 21 Williamsport 10 – The Bulldogs of Berwick are more tenacious than the Millionaires this night.
