Protime Predictions week 9 2021

Tagged under: Gameday Hub, News, Protime Predictions

| October 28, 2021

Halloween is upon us this weekend and Protime hearkens back to yesteryear when he was just a kid who enjoyed trick and treating.  Some of Protime’s favorite Halloween costumes included Fred Flintstone (although it was kind of cold in bare feet at the end of October), Bugs Bunny (it got old saying, “what’s up doc?” at every house), Frankenstein (everyone likes a kid monster), a pirate (most people told Protime to ‘walk the plank’ when he left), and a hobo (which seemed to get Protime more candy for some reason).

Back in the day Halloween was a fun time, there were no hauntings, no Michael Myerses or Freddy Krugers.  There was trick or treating 5 days a week and every house was fair game to be corned.  After school Protime would make his rounds to scrounge for the prior night’s corn so he could corn again.  By recycling it, Protime’s corn went a long way every year.  Of course, the neighbors knew who was corning, but they didn’t care.  Protime and his buds were just having fun.

Protime was not haunted by last week’s predictions.  Au contraire, Protime went 22-5 upping his season’s record to 201-48 for a .807 winning percentage.  The Haughty Harbinger of high school football will now unveil his premonitions for the last week of the regular season plus an early playoff game or two.

Cambria Heights 9-0 vs. Windber 8-0 @ Penns Manor – This is gonna be a ‘good one’ as Steve Harvey would say.  Every year the Appalachian Bowl pits the winner of the Western PA Athletic Conference or WestPAC (Windber) against the Heritage Conference champ (Cambria Heights).  Heights is a running team led by two very proficient backs in QB Ty Stockley and bruising RB Ryan Haluska.  Stockley has 803 yards and has scored 12 touchdowns.  Haluska has 892 yards and 18 TDs.  Tanner Hite leads the C.H. defense with 68 tackles.  Windber likes to pound the ball too and has just the man to do it in John Shuster.  Mr. Shuster has gained over 1,000 yards rushing and has scored 18 times.  QB Aiden Gray can and will throw as evidenced by his 9 TD passes.  Blake Klosky and Gino Flori head up a pretty good Rambler defense.  Protime has Windber knocking off the Highlanders by a score of 28-21.

Scranton Prep 8-0 @ Valley View 9-0 – This game is going to be another good ‘un.  The Cavaliers of Scranton Prep are led by Landon Montgomery and his 1,630 yards rushing and 28 goal line crossings.  QB Sean Monahan has thrown 11 TD passes with WR Robert Rossi garnering 8 of those TD tosses.  He is just a hair shy of 500 receiving yards.  Connor Hilling has scooted for 883 yards running the agate and has reached the end zone 15 times.  QB Adam Howanitz has passed for 6 TDs and rushed for 10 more.  Andrew Heid leads the Cougar defense in tackles.  If ever there was a toss-up, it is this game.  Protime’s coin flip has Valley View the victor in overtime 26-20.

Serra Catholic 9-0 @ Steel Valley 8-0 – QB Max Rocco leads the high flying Eagles into Munhall to face the Ironmen of Steel Valley in this highly anticipated match-up.  Rocco has 1,503 yards passing with 23 TDs.  Terrell Booth has snared 12 of his TD tosses and Jayvon Holt has grabbed 6 more.  RB Machai Dutreiulle leads the ground game for the Eagles.  RB Nijhay Burt leads all of District 7 in rushing with 1,617 yards and an awesome amount of TDs, 29.  His average per carry is over 14 yards.  QB Cruce Brookins is a dangerous individual too for the Ironmen’s offense.  He has gained 754 yards and scored 8 times running the pigskin.  Jesean Wright heads up the defense for Steel Valley.  Protime envisions Steel Valley 48 and Serra 43.

William Penn York 7-1 @ Central York 8-0 – The number one 6A squad might get tested this week by a big, bad, Bearcat eleven.  William Penn’s offense centers around the all-stater, Jaheim White.  All Mr. White has done to date is average almost 15 yards a carry as he has rushed for 1466 yards on 100 totes, scoring 23 touchdowns in the process.  QB Sam Stoner compliments the ground game with his 1,187 yards passing and 16 TD tosses.  WR Jacquez Simmons has 494 yards receiving and has snagged 11 TD passes.  The top quarterback in the state, Beau Pribula, has 1,900 yards pitching the pigskin with 27 TDs.  He has 3 wide outs he usually looks for.  Imeire Manigault has 650 yards and 8 TDs receiving, Treyshawn Smith has 550 yards and 7 TDs, and Parker Hines has 500 yards and 8 TD catches.  Carter Glassmyer leads the Panther defense.  Protime predicts the Central York Panthers will defeat the William Penn York Bearcats by a score of 35-27.

Central Mountain 6-3 @ Jersey Shore 9-0 – Quarterback Brett Gerlach has 1,475 yards passing and 11 TD for the visiting Wildcats.  He also has run the ball for 555 yards and another 8 scores.  Ryan Pentz leads CMs ground game with 669 yards and 9 TDs.  WR Conner Foltz has 665 yards receiving.  Micah Walizer is the top cat on defense.  Brady Jordan barks the signals for the Bulldogs and has 1,352 yards through the air with 12 TD tosses.  Brady has scrambled for another 749 yards and 9 scores.  Cayden Hess is the top receiver and Hayden Packer has scored 13 TDs via the run.  Packer and Karter Peacock are the big dogs on defense for the Shore.  Jersey Shore wins 42 to 28.

Troy 7-2 @ Canton 9-0 – Troy is old school in that they will run the ball and when you think they might pass, they run some more.  Canton is also a running team, but will pass occasionally.  The Trojans’ main two backs are Damien Landon (962 yards rushing and 6 TDs) and Clayton Smith (842 yards and 8 TDs).  QB Justice Chimics has 6 TDs running too.  The Indians of Canton have Riley Parker in the backfield.  He has 715 yards on the ground and has scored 12 touchdowns.  QB Cooper Kitchen has 6 TD passes and 10 TDs on the ground.  Weston bellows has accumulated 1,144 all-purpose yards for Canton and Michael Davis averages 40 yards a punt when called upon.  Canton 20 Troy 15.

McKeesport 8-1 @ Belle Vernon 8-0 – Huge cat fight that may affect seeding for the playoffs.  The Tigers’ ranked 6th in 4A and their only loss was to an out of state team.  The Leopards are ranked #1 in Pennsylvania in the 4A classification.  McKeesport runs a triple option flex bone offense that does not pass much at all.  Bobbie Boyd leads Port’s ground game with 1,184 yards and 12 TDs.  The other main ball carriers, Kenneth Thompson and Jahmil Perryman have each scored 7 times.  One of the top offensive talents in the Pittsburgh area, Devin Whitlock, leads the Leopards with 782 yards passing and 877 yards rushing.  He has passed for 6 TDs and rushed for 15 more including the game winner against Thomas Jefferson a couple weeks ago.  RBs Quinton Martin and Jake Gedekoh have scored 11 and 7 touchdowns respectively.  Belle Vernon 27 McKeesport 26.

Tri-Valley 7-1 @ Williams Valley 7-1 – The visiting Bulldogs are led by QB Jonas McGrath, RB Kam Wetzel, and RB Jake Scheib.  McGrath has thrown for 9 TDs, Wetzel has scampered for 9 and Scheib 8 scores.  Reece Huntzinger and Scheib anchor a tough Bulldog defensive unit.  The Vikings’ QB Isaac Whiteash has unleashed the ball for 1,022 yards and 9 touchdowns.  RB Alex Achenbach has 1,290 yards rushing with 15 scores.  WR Brady Evans has caught 7 TD passes and has 520 receiving yards.  Jackson Yoder is the main Viking on defense.  Protime has Tri-Valley winning 30-20.

Brookville 6-3 @ Brockway 4-5 – The air at Brockway’s Frank Varischetti Field will be filled with footballs flying at various speeds and trajectories Friday night.  Charlie Krug of Brookville and Freshman Brayden Fox of Brockway will be slinging the ole pigskins like the Earp boys let lead fly at the OK Corral.  Krug has thrown for 1,617 yards and 18 TDs, while Fox has 2,211 yards with 20 touchdowns.  Brayden Kunselman leads all Brookville receivers with 40 catches for 715 yards and 8 TDs.  Jalen Kosko and Alex Carlson both have over 600 yards receiving for Brockway’s Rovers.  Kosko has entered the end zone on 8 occasions.  Hunter Smith and Carson Weaver have over 60 tackles each for Brookville.  Seth Stewart (70 tackles) and Tanner Guaglianone lead the Rover defense.  The Brookville Blue Raiders 48 and the Brockway Rovers 36.
