Last week Protime got home from work early, changed his clothes to run some errands, and headed out.  When he got to the first place, he found he’d forgotten his wallet, so home he zoomed.  But, he couldn’t find the wallet.  It wasn’t on the dresser where it is usually kept.  It wasn’t behind the dresser either.  It wasn’t on the floor in the walk-in closet or in any room in the house!

Protime went back to work and retraced his steps very methodically, including looking on the floor around his office chair and in the parking lot.  Nothing!  He looked under the seat of his car and the driveway at home.  Nothing!  Relegated to having to make some phone calls, Protime put his ball cap back in the walk-in closet, and as he turned around there it was!  His faithful wallet was sitting right where he’d left it when he changed, on the shelf below his dress shirts.

Mrs. Protime says Protime scares her sometimes and it’s not because he’s wearing a Halloween mask or that he sneaks up behind her occasionally and says “boo.”  This week Protime is not scared to venture down east to predict some games as many squads in the west are off.   Protime stands at 179-47 (.792) for the year after going 19-6 last week.  Here are the current week’s prognostications from the Guru of Guess.

Pine-Richland 8-1 @ North Allegheny 9-0 – “It’s time!”  The biggest game of the year in the west pits two teams in close proximity vying for the 6A District 7 top seed.  Led by Tyler King and Merrick Miller, the Rams have only given up 70 points in their last eight games.  Pine-Richland’s QB, Cole Spencer, has been doing a solid job at quarterback and has over 1,000 yards passing.  Luke Meckler has churned out 897 yards rushing with 13 TDs.  Eli Jochem has been the go to wideout for P-R.  RB Ben Maenza leads the NA Tigers with 894 yards carrying the pigskin.  He has seen the end zone on 16 occasions too.  Percise Colon has scored 10 times and kicker Isaac West has nailed 5 FGs while missing only one extra point all year.  Cade Hoke is top tackler on the terrific Tiger defense.  Protime gazed into the crystal ball and saw that Pine-Richland edges NA by a score of 21-17.

Clairton 8-0 @ Jeannette 9-0 – Boy, oh boy, another slobber-knocker in D-7.  These are two of the top defenses in the state in Single A.  Offensively, Clairton is led by QB Brendan Parsons (897 yards with 13 TD tosses) and RBs Taevon Thompson and Dontae Sanders.  Jeannette’s quarterback, Seth Howard, has thrown for 1,170 yards and 13 scores.  He can also run, as evidenced by his 451 yards and 8 TDs.  RB Imani Sanders has 10 touchdowns and WR Marcus Barnes has scored 8.  Jeannette is the top 1A squad in the state.  Another crystal ball gazing determines the Jayhawks will have a better day than the Bears this time around, 22-14.

Downingtown East 8-1 @ Coatesville 9-0 – East had one bad game on offense which cost them.  They can’t afford to have that happen against the #1 team in the state in the 6A classification.  The Cougars have a strong running attack led by Garvey Jonassaint and his 1,200 yards (13 TDs).  Zach Hamilton has contributed another 700 plus yards and 12 scores.  QB Luke Davis does not throw very much, but when he does he is effective (700 yards and 10 TDs).  The number one ranked Red Raiders have a prolific offense led by QB Ricky Ortega (1,567 yards, 26 touchdowns, and a 141.4 QB rating).  He has scrambled for 553 yards and 8 TDs.  WR Dupree Bryant has 39 catches for 785 yards and 12 scores.  RB Aaron Young has 865 yards with 15 tallies and he averages 9 yards a carry.  Placekicker, Than Hylen, has made all 44 PATs.  Coatesville’s defensive stalwart is Nikolas Thompson.  Coatesville wins 42-24.

Southern Columbia 9-0 @ Danville 8-1 – What can be said about a school with the most state championship appearances and titles?  They have 4 career stat leaders on the team and three of them are only juniors!  According to Protime’s pal Dave Fegley, the Tigers have won 70 straight regular season games which is second longest in PIAA history.  WR Julian Fleming has hauled in 42 passes for 910 yards and 11 scores.  RBs Gaige Garcia and Gavin Garcia have 1,875 yards and 38 touchdowns between them.  QB Preston Zachman has 588 yards and 8 TDs filling in for the injured Stone Hollenbach (731 yards-11 scores).  Cal Haladay and Max Tillett headline an underrated SC defense.  Danville’s Ironmen are not without some offensive firepower of their own.  QB Kayden Riley has tossed the ball for 1,865 yards and 18 tallies.  WRs Payton Riley and Shane Kozick have 1,133 yards and 11 scores between them.  RB Peyton Persing has scurried for 12 TDs plus 6 more receiving.  Payton Riley has booted 8 field goals.  Preston Fausnaught anchors the Ironman ‘D’.  AA’s top team, Southern, wins 42-27.

McKeesport 8-1 @ Gateway 9-0 – Monroeville will be the scene of this showdown as the Tigers invade Gatorland.  Konota Gaskins barks out the signals for McKeesport.  He has been very productive with 698 yards passing and 12 TDs plus 550 yards rushing and 10 TDs.  Devin Sims has scored 11 times and Devari Robinson has 9 TDs.  WR Deamontae Diggs averages 32 yards a catch!  The Gators’ offense has three key ingredients: QB Brendon Majocha (1,776 yards-28 TDs-only 1 INT), WR Courtney Jackson (771 yards-15 total TDs), and RB Derrick Davis (1,005 yards-17 total TDs-averages 11 yards/carry).  Protime believes the difference will be the Gator ‘D’ who have only conceded 37 points to date.  Gators 24 Tigers 14.

McGuffey 8-1 @ Washington 8-1 – Big game for seeding purposes in D-7’s 2A bracket.  The Highlanders of McGuffey are having a fantastic year under the guidance of Coach Ed Dalton.  Christian Clutter leads the team with 1,162 yards rushing and 32 total touchdowns.  QB Marshall Whipkey can pass (798 yds-13 TDs) or run (548 yds-6 TDs).  For Wash High, QB Zach Swartz can heave it with the best of them.  His 1,798 yards and 24 touchdown passes are awesome.  But he does have a very good supporting cast.  He has two quality WRs in Daniel Walker (12 TD catches) and Zahmere Robinson who averages 24 yards a catch.  RB Dylan Asbury has 815 yards and 16 TDs and averages 11 yards per tote.  Protime envisions the Little Prexies prevailing, 50-48.

Shade 9-0 @ Ligonier Valley 9-0 @ Windber – When you think of Shade you think of Brady Fyfe.  Mr. Fyfe has thrown for 2,738 yards to date along with 38 TD tosses.  He will burn you with his feet too, witness his 1,009 yards and 13 goal line crossings.  WR Dawson Snyder has 51 grabs for 803 yards and 11 TDs.  Altogether the team has 5 receivers with at least 25 catches.  Austin Mauger has an amazing 116 tackles for the Panthers.  Ligonier Valley’s Rams are no slouches either.  QB John Caldwell has 1,906 yards through the air and 28 TDs for a 140.7 passer rating.  Aaron Tutino catches many of those passes as he has 45 receptions for 979 yards and 16 scores.  RB Kyrie Miller has rushed for 896 markers and scored 16 times.  Ayden Kelley and Mike Petrof spearhead the Ram defense.  Protime has to go with AA Ligonier Valley over A Shade, but in a close one, 40-34.

Berks Catholic 7-2 @ Wyomissing 8-1 – The Saints are led by QB Terrance Derr with his 832 yards and 13 TDs, RB Abdul Macfoy and his 615 yards-10 TDs, and Brandon George’s 6 rushing scores.  George is the top tackler on Berks’ defense.  The Spartans of Wyomissing are led by RB Tim Kowalski’s 830 markers and 15 scores.  Max Hurleman has 7 TDs and QB Ben Terefenko has passed for 668 yards with 11 touchdowns.  These two squads have the top two defenses in the Berks Inter-County League 2 conference, allowing less than 200 total yards a game.  It’ll be the Saints 21 and the Spartans 14.

Parkland 6-3 @ Emmaus 8-1 – Protime understands this game is sometimes called the Cedar Crest Boulevard Rivalry and it should be a good one.  Parkland’s Trojans are led offensively by Tanner Lewis (760 yards passing), RB Dominic Nelson (tops on the team in touchdowns), and WR Christian Hudson.  Kicker Devin Bartholomew has made 9 FGs and only missed 1 point after attempt.  Christian Suriel is a leader on the Trojan defense.  The Hornets of Emmaus have quarterback Ethan Parvel pitching the pigskin for 1,276 yards with 19 TDs so far.  Parvel will run too as he has over 400 yards and 6 TDs on the ground.  RB Luben Myers scooted for 830 yards and 10 TDs to date.  Deonte Castro has over 500 yards catching the agate with 7 scores.  Hornet Adam Heiserman is the team’s defensive star.  Protime is very tempted to go with the upset, but goes with Emmaus 14-13.

North Penn-Mansfield 7-2 @ Wellsboro 8-1 – Here is an interesting D-4 match-up.  The North Penn Panthers have a good one at QB in Brent Burleigh (1,492 yards-16 TDs).  They have two solid running backs in Garrett David (11 TDs) and Mikah Kolb (6 TDs).  David is also a main cog on the NP defense.  The Wellsboro Hornets have a horse in RB Aidan Hauser, who has rumbled for 1,412 yards and 16 touchdowns this year.  Hauser has also accounted for over 1,900 yards all-purpose yards.  WR Silas Wagaman has caught 7 TD tosses.  QB duty has been split between Karter Wilmer and Fr. Isaac Keane.  Wilmer has 7 TD throws to his credit.  On defense, Hunter Brown is the career sack leader and Alex Burrell is a leading tackler.  The Hornets sting the Panthers for their ninth victory, 32-27.

Brookville 6-3 @ DuBois 3-6 – Brookville’s other sophomore QB, Robert Keth, is filling in nicely for the injured Jack Krug.  Keth has passed for 1,731 yards and 20 TDs.  He has two great receivers in Bryan Dworek (56 snabs for 927 yards and 10 scores) and Cabe Park (49 grabs for 1,160 yards and 16 TDs).  Defensively, the Blue Raiders have Trent Gilhousen and Eliot Park to take down ball carriers.  The Beavers are having a so-so year and need a win to get into the playoffs.  QB Alex Kovalyak has over 1,00 yards and 8 TDs passing.  All-purpose player, Eric Shneider, plays some quarterback, receiver, and will run the agate too.  6’8” Chase Husted is the Beaver top receiver, but was injured last week and status is unknown.  Dylan McCloskey headlines the DuBois defense.  Brookville’s offensive co-ordinator, Frank Varischetti, used to be the Beavers’ head coach.  Because of that and the Blue Raiders knocking off Ridgway a week ago, Protime is picking Brookville 42-35.

The Others:

Richland 35 Chestnut Ridge 16 – Ridge suffered its first loss last week and the Lions will suffer two in a row against the unbeaten Rams.

Oil City 44 Bradford 34 – Christian Cole (‘The Cole Train’) and company bring their exciting show to Bradford.  The Owls give the Oilers a battle before falling.

Shady Side Academy 42 Avonworth 28 – The Indians chop down the Antelopes.

Manheim Central 31 Solanco 21 – The Barons get a scare, but ultimately kick the Golden Mules to remain undefeated.

Bellwood-Antis 27 Southern Huntingdon 16 – Protime was tempted to pick the upset, but in the end felt the Blue Devils just have too much for the Rockets.

Middletown 28 Palmyra 21 – The Blue Raiders of Mid-town are trying to get to the state finals for the third straight year.  They take care of the Cougars, who lose only their second game of the year.

Garnet Valley 20 Upper Darby 14 – Garnet Valley runs its record to 10-0.  They’ve eked out a couple of wins this year.  Make it another as the Jaguars survive at home against a game Royal squad.

Thomas Jefferson 34 West Mifflin 22 – TJ puts another unblemished season in the books when the Jags defeat the Titans.

Valley View 27 North Pocono 14 – The Cougars are the #1 ranked team in the state at AAAA.  The Trojans of N. Pocono are Valley View’s tenth victim.

Claysburg-Kimmel 43 Everett 42 – This is a toss up and the coin toss did no good as Protime’s coin slipped through the crack in the floor.  In overtime, the Bulldogs edge the Warriors.

Bellefonte 23 Bald Eagle Area 20 – The Red Raiders stop the Bald Eagles short of having a nine-win season.

Palisades 56 Saucon Valley 49 – Great game to watch as these two high scoring machines match each other TD for TD with their powerful ground games.  The Pirates prevail over the Panthers.

Blackhawk 22 Beaver 18 – The Cougars outclaw the Bobcats.
