PROTIME PREDICTIONS by Phil the TITLE GAME PREDICTIONS ARE OUT!

It’s Championship Week at Hershey.  Six titles are on the line and Protime knows what it feels like to be a winner.  Hearkening back to yesteryear, Protime’s youth bowling team captured the first place trophy when he was a senior in high school.  Over the years, Protime and his softball comrades earned the title, ‘League Champs’ a few times.  And to this day Protime is still known as the snowball king of Tanner Hill.  He could throw a snowball so it was speared by the carrot on Frosty’s nose from 50 feet away.  Oh, those were the days my friends, those were the days.

Protime pitted his extraordinary ability to predict games against the Born Power Index last week.  They both successfully picked 9 of the 12 contests.  That puts Protime at 303-71 (.810) for the year with six very important games remaining.  The Profound Prognosticator can now confidently disclose his championship choices.

Harrisburg 13-1 vs. St. Joseph’s Prep 12-0 – The Cougars pulled off perhaps the biggest surprise last week by defeating Coatesville, who had beat them handily in week zero.  Harrisburg is led by quarterback Kane Everson, who’s thrown for 2,086 yards and 27 scores.  Mr. Everson has pounded the turf for 898 yards and 8 TDs.  Probably his favorite receiver is Donte Kent, who has 661 yards and 11 TDs.  RB Jahmir Plant has contributed 791 yards and 10 TDs rushing.  Defensively, the Cougars have a plethora of talent.  Elijah Scott and Rynell Gantt have 6 picks apiece.  DE Dionte Nichols has 15.5 sacks and 20 tackles for losses.  LBs Andre White, Jr. and Jai Burney have well over 100 tackles each.  St. Joes, ranked 8th in the country (USAToday), is led by sophomore sensation, Kyle McCord.  The young QB has pitched the pigskin for 2,604 markers and 33 TDs.  Wide outs Johnny Freeman (786 yards-10 TDs) and Marvin Harrison, Jr. (647 yards-8 TDs) headline a strong corps of receivers.  RB Kolbe Burrell has 770 yards and 11 TDs, while athlete Marques Mason has scored 17 touchdowns, 9 rushing.  Some of the Hawk stalwarts on defense are DB Nikolas Rios, DB Zach Bouggess, and LB Kim Cooper.  This may well be one of the best games this weekend.  St. Joes by a nose 31-30.

Penn Hills 15-0 vs. Manheim Central 14-0 – The Penn Hills Indians are not always winning easily, but they are winning.  That is a tribute to their leaders on offense who seem to come up with big plays when needed.  QB Hollis Mathis has almost 2,600 yards passing and 37 TDs to date.  His top two receivers are Daequan Hardy (700 yards-10 TDs) and Dante Cephas (almost 900 yards-13 TDs).  Daequan has recorded 20 total TDs.  The appropriately named running back, Tank Smith, has rumbled for 1,649 yards and 21 goal line crossings.  Hardy is a factor on defense too as evidenced by his 2 picks and a fumble recovery last week against Archbishop Wood.  Manheim is led by QB Evan Simon and his 2,446 yards passing along with 26 TDs.  Simon can also run effectively (613 yards-12 TDs).  Tyler Flick has travelled 1,735 yards and scored 31 touchdowns on the ground.  WR Colby Wagner has 751 yards and 11 TDs.  Will Rivers has grabbed the most passes accounting for 638 yards and 6 scores.  Defensively, Landon Moyer has 118 tackles and Isaac Perron has 7 INTs.  The Barons have the tenth highest scoring offense in the state, but probably have not played a defense with the speed Penn Hills has.  Protime flipped a coin and is going with the Indians by a score of 26-24.

Erie Cathedral Prep 12-3 vs. Imhotep Charter 11-2 – For the 4th straight year, it’s Prep versus Tep.  The Ramblers have won two of three, with the two wins being the past two years.  Prep has a practically new team from the past couple years.  The # 6 scoring offense in PA is led by RB Billy Lucas.  He has traversed the gridiron for 1,798 yards and 23 scores.  Connor ‘Regan’ Schleicher is a dual threat QB.  He’s pegged the pigskin for 1,280 yards and 16 TDs, while scurrying with the ball for 839 yards and 14 scores.  WR Jack Oedekoven has 769 yards and 10 TDs under his belt.  TE Joey Scarabino has caught 9 TD tosses.  K Colin Kelly is up to 7 field goal conversions on the season.  On the defensive side, Jaheim Williams and Luke Sittinger have the most tackles.  Ervin Williams now has 5 picks for the orange and black.  The Imhotep Panthers have the number two scoring defense of the teams remaining.  Before he was injured, Zymir Cobbs led the team in tackles.  Tykee Smith is a West Virginia DB recruit.  He also plays some offense, leading Imhotep in rushing with 941 yards and 14 TDs.  Baylor recruit, Yusuf Terry, is Tep’s top receiver with over 600 yards and 8 TDs.  QB Jalen Sutton-Christian has 1,102 yards and 13 TDs.  Protime’s crystal ball says the Panthers by a whisker 22-21.

Middletown 13-1 vs. Aliquippa 13-1 – For the third year in a row, the Blue Raiders find themselves in the finals taking on a team from Beaver County.  First it was Beaver Falls, then Quaker Valley, and now Aliquippa.  Middletown is led by RB Jose Lopez and his 2,221 yards rushing, along with 28 touchdowns.  RB Richie Sykes has produced 1,224 yards and 15 scores to take some attention off of Lopez.  QB Scott Ash has tossed the agate for 1,514 markers and 15 tallies.  On defense, Sykes, Christopher Joseph, and Adonis Taveras are a few players that may have an impact.  The Quips are the #3 scoring team in PA and are led by QB Eli Kosanovich (3,025 yards-38 TDs) and WR William Gipson (60 receptions for 1,636 yards and 19 TDs).  Gipson is a Pitt recruit.  RB Avante McKenzie has 1,444 yards and 30 TDs rushing.  Athlete MJ Devonshire is extremely dangerous too.  He has returned 8 punts for scores (a PA record) and has 24 total TDs.  Aliquippa’s line is big to say the least.  Sr. Solvaughn Moreland (Ball St.) is 6’3” 305 lbs.  Juniors Elijah Mike and Tarquinn Greene are 6’1” and 6’2” respectively with each weighing 305 pounds also.  All three play both ways.  Aliquippa 28 Middletown 14.

Southern Columbia 15-0 vs. Wilmington 13-1 – Protime will try to be brief, but with a team like SoCol it is tough.  Coach Jim Roth has 427 career wins.  He and his Tigers are appearing in their 17th title game, winning 8.  Coach Roth has been at the helm 35 years and in 32 of them he’s won 10 or more games.  He has never had a losing record.  The black and gold are led by QB Stone Hollenbach (1,595 yards-26 TDs), WR Julian Fleming (72 snabs for 1,485 yards, 22 TDs), and RB Gaige Garcia (1,910 yards-34 TDs, average 10.6 yds/carry).  RB Gavin Garcia has 1,080 yards and 21 scores and averages 11.5 yds/carry.  Preston Zachman has contributed at quarterback and receiver this season.  Max Tillett and Cal Haladay are big-time contributors on the Tiger ’D’ with hordes of tackles.  Hollenbach is the only senior of this group!  Gavin Garcia is a freshman!  The Wilmington Greyhounds are led by a very knowledgeable first year coach in Brandon Phillian.  Cameron Marrett tops the offense with 1,759 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns (29 all told).  QB Robert Pontius has found the end zone 19 times running the ball.  RB Ethan Susen has almost 900 yards and 15 scores.  Pontius will throw too as demonstrated by his 1,234 yards and 14 TD tosses.  OL/LB Colton Richards is a man among boys.  Southern Columbia has the numero uno scoring offense in the state (not even close) and Wilmington has the #5 scoring offense.  On paper it’s a good match-up, but the Tigers really do have too much firepower.  They are victorious 38-20.

Farrell 14-0 vs. Lackawanna Trail 14-1 – What more can be said about the #2 scoring team in the state, the Farrell Steelers.  Well, Protime has a few things to say.  QB Kyi Wright has thrown for 1,606 yards and 28 touchdowns.  Jourdan Townsend has snared 68 passes for 1,203 yards and 24 TDs.  He is obviously the main receiver.  RB Christian Lewis has galloped for 2,218 yards, scoring 29 times.  He has 33 total TDs.  RB Tymir Green chips in with another 11 tallies.  Oh, and Wright has found the end zone on 14 occasions running with the ball.  Wright, a Pitt recruit, heads up the #1 scoring defense of the teams still playing, along with Green.  The Lions of Lackawanna Trail have four players with over 730 yards toting the pigskin.  Ray Melnikoff leads the way with 1,312 yards and 15 scores.  He is followed by RB Cody Moyle (822 Yards-16 TDs), RB Jeff Resto (774 yards-8 TDs), and QB Nate Rolka (733 yards-11 TDs).  Rolka has thrown for 829 yards and 8 touchdowns. The versatile signal caller doubles as the placekicker and has nailed all 33 of his point after touchdown attempts.  Nico Berrios leads the den of Lions in interceptions.  In the end, Protime has Farrell winning its first title since 1996 by a score of 35-14.

Protime wishes every single team a heart felt good luck.  All Protime really cares about is seeing a good game.  This year, let’s hope all six are great games!!  Until next year, y’all have a very Merry Christmas, and a great and Happy New Year!!
