PSAC Week 6 Wrap up

Gannon v Edinboro: Nate Mikell threw a pair of touchdown passes, five yards to Donell “Tank” Mason in the first quarter and 53 yards to Ke’John Batiste early in the fourth to lead the Golden Knights to a 17-0 lead. Eric Scarpino made his ninth consecutive field goal before halftime.  The Scots fought back to make it 17-12 behind backup quarterback Isaac Bernard, but the Gannon defense clinched the win with a fumble return for a touchdown on the game’s final play.

Gannon will face #10 Slippery Rock next week and Edinboro travels to IUP.

Shepard v Lock Haven: Former Mt. Lebo qb Seth Morgan went 25-36 for 301 yards and 2 tds to lead the Rams over a much improved from last year Lock Haven team. The Eagles scored first on a 32 yard field goal, but the Rams scored 24 straight points to pull away for the win.

For Lock Haven, Chandler Baker had a 98 yard kick return, Danny Sanchez threw for 117 yards.  Shepherd will travel to Millersburg next week and the Eagles hope to rebound against rival Bloomsburg.

Shippensburg v West Chester. Rams Defense seals the win. West Chester fell behind early but recovered from the 14-0 deficit by scoring 5 times to take a commanding 31-14 lead en-route to a 38-28 win. Former Imhotep star Maurice Beverly broke the game open for West Chester when he forced a fumble and returned it 99 yards, a Rams record, in the third quarter to put the Golden Rams up 31-14. Beverly and Downingtown Easts Connor Noble led the team with 9 tackles each. Beverly forced 2 fumbles and Noble had 1.5 sacks.

For Shippensburg, Sam Stoner finished with 268 yards and three td’s going 14 of 32 but had two fourth quarter interctptions. Ibrahim Diawara had a pair of sacks and Jacoby Sherard posted 2.5 sacks, a career-best nine tackles and a fumble recovery.

West Chester will host East Stroudsburg next week while Ship goes on the road the East leaders Kutztown.

Kutztown v Bloomsburg: The Golden Bears continued to dominate the PSAC East with a solid 24-3 win at Redman Stadium. Defense was the name of the game as neither team was able to get much going early. The Bears broke the TD barrier early in the second with a 9 yard td run by Jaedyn Stewart. Antaun Lloyd returned a punt 71 yards to set up a 9 yard td pass from Judd Novak to Mekhi Gibson and the Bears led 17-0. Bloomsburg will try to get on the winning track with Lock Haven while Kutztown hosts Shippensburg.

Seton Hill v Clarion: Losing on Homecoming weekend is never a welcomed outcome, but with the score tied at 17, former Connellsville back Ky’Ron Craggette scored the winning td with 3:26 left to play and the Eagles failed to get the winning drive in gear.

Mark Bails Jr. led the way for the Griffins with five catches for 127 yards. JaiQuawn McGriff rushed for 89 yards on 18 carries. Taz Morris had a phenomenal night on special teams racking up 164 return yards and a game-changing kickoff return.

Corahn Alleyne finished with 140 combined rushing and receiving yards as well as two touchdowns, and also added 66 total return yards for a 206 all-purpose yardage total. Zach Benedek rushed for 55 yards and threw for 90 and a score. Griffin Buzzell had a game-high nine total tackles

Slippery Rock v Mercyhurst: The 10th ranked Slippery Rock University football team outscored Mercyhurst University 34-0 in the third quarter to run away with a 75-31 win on the road Saturday. The Rock took an early lead, but Mercyhurst hung around and kept it competitive until the third quarter. SRU outscored the Lakers 34-0 with five touchdowns in the third period. Brayden Long completed 22-of-27 passes for 224 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions. Kyle Sheets caught six passes for 54 yards and two touchdowns. Cohen Russell added five catches for 86 yards and one TD.

For Edinboro, Adam Urena threw for 322 yards on 25 completions while adding a pair of touchdowns to his line. His 322 yards through the air is the third time this season the Chino Hills, Ca. native has eclipsed 300 yards.  Slippery rock will travel to Gannon next week while Mercyhurst travels to Clarion.

Millersville v East Stroudsburg. The Warrior dominated the Mauraders with an easy 38-17 win. ESU scored on their first 3 of 4 drives to pull away early and led 37-10 in the fourth quarter.

Sean McTaggart completed 12-18 passes for 260 yards and two touchdowns.  Tahir Mills (6 att., 87 yards, 2 TD) and Tyriq Lewis (12 att., 76 yards, 1 TD) combining for 164 rushing yards on just 18 attempts.

Millersville quarterback Robert Footman Jr. finished 14-of-29 for 170 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.

Millersville takes on Shepherd next week and the Warriors travel to West Chester..
