PSAC Week 7 Wrap up

EAST STROUDSBURG vs. WEST CHESTER: Not since 2012 have the Warrior notched a win over the Rams. That changed today as ESU rolled up 234 yards on the ground and 374 total yards on their way to a 28-14 win. The Warriors took control in the second quarter when Tahir Mills hauled in a 22 yard td pass from Sean McTaggart to put ESU up 14-7. Four minutes later McTaggart called his own number for a 7 yard td to make it a 21-7 lead for ESU.
Ethan Kohler closed the gap to seven points late in the third but Tyriq Lewis scored from five yards out to shut the door with 2:13 left in the game.
ESU plays Bloomsburg next week looking to go 7-1 for the first time since 2014. They haven’t beaten both Bloom and the Rams in the same year since 1991.

West Chester travels to Shephers next Saturday.

MERCYHURST vs. CLARION: Mercyhurst scored 22 second half points and left Clarion with a thrilling 36-35 win. Jaylen Butera capped off a 12 play, 82 yard drive with a 1 yard td run with just five seconds left on the clock to get the Lakers within one. But instead of the tie, they went for the win. Braydon Black hauled in the winning 2 point pass from Adam Urena.

The Lakers had just two yards less than Clarion on offense, 375-373.
For the Lakers, Urena finished with 199 yards through the air with three td passes and Butera ran for 182 yards and two scores.
For Clarion, Zack Benedek finished with 163 yards on the ground and one td.

Clarion will look to rebound at Edinboro while the Lakers get Gannon next weekend.

#10 SLIPPERY ROCK vs. GANNON: The Golden Knights jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter but they couldn’t stop the Rock late. Slippery Rock scored four straight times in the third and fourth quarters to pull away with a 49-24 win. Gannon kept it interesting for a while, taking a 24-21 lead with 6:38 left in the third, but a 17 yard td pass from Brayden Long to Kam Kruzelyak opened the flood gates for the Rock.

Long threw for 263 yards on 23 attempts, hitting for four tds. Isaiah Edwards (82 yds/1td) and Khalid Dorsey (71 yds/1td) led the way on the ground for the Rock.
Nate Mikell threw for 135 yards for Gannon. Mikell also ran for 48 yards and two scores. Donny Marcus ran for 108 yards and David Morgan had 68 on the ground with a td.
Gannon travels to Mercyhurst and Slippery Rock has California (Pa).
SHIPPENSBURG vs. KUTZTOWN: The Golden Bears escaped their home stadium with a 9-6 overtime win in a downpour. Jaxson Montross hit a 34 yard field goal for Shippensburg to send the game into overtime, then he put the Raiders in the lead in overtime with a 22 yard kick. Judd Novak got the winning td on a 25 yard scramble right up the middle of the Bears defense for the win.
The Raiders have a home game vs Millersville next week and Kutztown travels to Lock Haven.
SHEPHERD vs. MILLERSVILLE: Shepherd ruined a record breaking day for Millersville running back Jaheim Morris. He ran for a career high 229 yards but it wasn’t enough to keep the Rams from getting the programs 50th win, a 33-17 victory. Morris also tied a school record with a 93 yard run. With the score tied at 3 at halftime, Shepherd came out hungry and scored 30 points in the second half. It was still a close game early in the fourth quarter. Millersville got within two when Morris scored on a 24 yard run to make it a 19-17 game, but the Rams got a 2 yard fumble recovery for a score the Jordan Barnett closed the scoring with a 14 yard td run.
Ram quarterback Seth Morgan threw for 163 yards and a td while Malakai Brown and Barnett combined for 179 yards and 2 scores.
Shepherd will host West Chester next week and the Marauders will travel to Shippensburg.

EDINBORO vs. IUP: IUP ground out 277 yards on the ground, led by Dayjure Stewart with 162 stripes and a td to pull away for a 20-10 win at home. The Fighting Scots took a 10-7 lead in the second quarter when Mike Watkins hauled in a 58 yard td pass from Matt Carlisle. Iup responded in the second half with a 21 yard td pass from Nico Marchitelli to Quinn Zinobile and in the fourth quarter Stewart took a pass from Marchitelli 19 yards for the final score of the game. Stewart opened the scoring with a 78 yard dash to the endzone.

IUP  travels to Seton Hill next week and Edinboro hosts Clarion.

LOCK HAVEN @ BLOOMSBURG: Homecoming vs Lock Haven didn’t turn out so good for the home team. The Eagles went home with a 21-13 win to improve to 4-3 while the Huskies drop to 1-6. With the score 14-13 Eagles, Zach Hellerman scored on a six yard run late in the third for the clinching td.

For the Huskies, KJ Riley threw for 167 yards with an interception. Kaleb Monaco ran for 117 and a score. George Christopher hit on 2 field goals. Bloom travels to East Stroudsburg next week.

For Lock Haven, Chris Collier stole the show running all over the Huskies for 253 yards and 2 scores. The Eagles piled up a total of 328 yards on offense. Lock Haven is home next week against Kutztown.

SETON HILL vs CALIFORNIA: The Vulcans rolled out to a 34-0 lead on their way to a resounding 41-14 win at home. The Vulcans scored 20 points in the first 1:04 of the game. Davis Black hit Eric Willis for a 74 yard td on the first play of the game, Dominic Solomon took an interception 53 yards to the house to put Cal up 14-0 on the games second play and the Vulcan defense forced an three and out giving the ball back to the offense. Four plays later Black hit Omari Hopkins to make it 20-0. Cal never looked back.

The Vulcans travel to the Rock and Seton Hill hosts IUP next week.
