NFL superstar and former Penn State running back, Saquon Barkley, takes a trip back home and puts a smile on young players’ faces.
St. Luke’s Sports Medicine recently held a Youth Football camp in Whitehall Pa, which just so happens to be Barkley’s hometown. This youth football camp took place at Whitehall high school’s Football stadium where is also where Saquon played. During the positional drills, Saquon was able to give advice and show the youth what it takes to get to the position he is in today.
While at this camp you could really feel the emotion and the excitement these kids had while watching him show up. Everyone yelling “Saquon I’m a big fan” “Saquon can you sign this was very wholesome to witness. In all that excitement and emotion however there was a spark, all of a sudden you could see the kids starting to try harder and really start putting in more work in their drills.
The impact Saquon has on this community especially in the younger generation is truly amazing to watch. “The memories here are special. To be able to come back to the community where I’m From the community that helped mold me into the main I am today…hopefully I can do the same thing to instill some confidence into these kids and just try to give the best advice I can” said Barkley when asked about what coming home means to him.
This event was a huge success as it officially sold out quickly and for these upcoming football players, it was all worth it. Saquon had a huge impact on the kids with a reminder on how to make it to the big leagues. “With work ethic, determination, and a hard working mindset anything is possible.”-Saquon Barkley. They got the experience of a lifetime while also training to become the “next big thing” to come out of Whitehall, Pennsylvania.
