On Thursday Night in Northeast Ohio, the Stow-Munroe Falls Bulldogs hosted the John F. Kennedy Eagles from Cleveland. JFK entered the game 0-2 after being outscored a combined 133 to 0 in those two losses. Stow-Munroe Falls, meanwhile, entered the game at 1-1 with a big win over Barberton and a one score loss to Medina, 21-13.
Stow-Munroe Falls opened the game with a vengeance. Scoring 30 points in the first twelve minutes en route to a 44-8 victory over the JFK Eagles.
After fielding the kickoff, they scored on a broken coverage play. A pass down the left sideline uncontested caught by Andrew Rickelman for 65 yards. Just 16 seconds into the game. Rickelman caused another score, a safety, with a sack in the endzone of JFK’s quarterback. To go up 9-0.
Cayden Boyd added another score with a 65 yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Just 149 seconds into the game, Stow-Munroe Falls had a 16-0 lead. And it wasn’t over. Rickelman found the endzone again on an 11 catch. That play coming immediately after a 2 yard punt JFK set them up at the 11. At this point, the Bulldogs had three touchdowns, and a safety, and only had just two offensive plays.
To cap off the first quarter scoring, Daylon Keeling found the endzone on a 2 yard dump off. Not even ten minutes into the game the Bulldogs had a 30-0 lead.
Mikel Staats added to the scoreline in the second quarter, with a short run. This coming after two straight Stow-Munroe Falls fumbles. One on a rush heading toward the goal line. The second on a punt return that was muffed and then not cleanly recovered.
The 37-0 lead was comfortable for the home squad, but it wouldn’t last. With a cycle of players coming through, JFK found some offense with a short pass to the right flat that helped give them a first down. And a long pass to the one by K’Shaun Cummings. Which setup Aaden Shepherd to plow it in from one yard out on a quarterback keeper. Giving the Eagles their first score of the season. His two point try was successful and the running clock rules were momentarily suspended, 37-8 with 1:58 left in the third.
Halfway through the fourth, though, Stow-Munroe Falls finds the endzone once again on a short touchdown by Laurence Stephenson. Giving the Bulldogs a 44-8 victory.
