Owls Grab Blazing South Jersey Defensive Back/Receiver

Temple added Rancocas Valley wide receiver Mikey McQueen to its 2027 recruiting class on Sunday.

McQueen, a 6-foot-4, 188-pound receiver, garnered offers from the Owls along with Penn State, Syracuse, James Madison, and others. His commitment comes just two days after McQueen visited 10th and Diamond back on June 5.

The Mount Holly native plays both receiver and defensive back for the Red Devils while also spending time on the basketball court. He chose to commit as a wideout for the Owls, though it seems certain that a transition to the defensive side of the ball is down the line.

Ironically, like the fictional car that bears his name, McQueen made his name with his lightning speed, regularly shooting past defenders in man coverage and taking the top off opposing defenses, finishing last year with 22 passes for 413 yards and six touchdowns.

He mainly lined up in the slot for Rancocas, where he was able to put his footwork and open-field running on full display, using his unique blend of size and agility to get past defenders with a mix of physicality and finesse.

On the defensive side of the ball, McQueen shone in man coverage, where he used his long frame to disrupt passing lanes and clobber opposing receivers. McQueen picked off two passes at the corner for Rancocas in his junior season.

Ohio Defensive End Announces Commitment to the Owls

Antwerp High School (OH) defensive end Keagan Gray-Wyckoff announced his commitment to Temple late Monday morning, joining McQueen as the Owls doubled their 2027 class in just 24 hours.

The two-sport athlete from northwest Ohio played both defensive and offensive line, where he lined up at tackle.

At 6-foot-4, 270 pounds, Gray-Wyckoff posts great strength numbers with a 350-pound bench press and 22 reps at 180 pounds, along with a 510-pound squat, 600-pound deadlift, and 270-pound clean, which could nod to some explosive body movement off the line.

The Antwerp native held just two offers as of his commitment, from Temple and Buffalo. Gray-Wyckoff visited Temple alongside McQueen last week and fast-tracked his decision to join the Owls.
