On a cold rainy brisk afternoon with a steady rain all game long and 50-degree temps, the Western New England University Golden Bears from Springfield, MA at (2-1) made the road trip to Selinsgrove to take on the Susquehanna River Hawks (3-0) in their home opener.
A decent home field crowd for the fall like weather conditions got to see their River Hawks advance to (4-0) and extend their regular season win streak to 15 for 8th year Head Coach Tom Perkovich and staff, despite having some 14 penalties for 139 yds and a gallant effort by the Golden Bears late in the 4th quarter, the Susquehanna River Hawks were not going to be denied the crowd-pleasing victory with a total offensive attack of some 323 yds, 241 on the ground and 82 thru the air to secure the win.
Up next for the River Hawks is another home game against the visiting Cardinals of Catholic University at Doug Arthur Stadium Saturday Sept.30th at 1:00 PM.
