2023 District 2: Week10 Rewind

Wilkes-Barre Area 42 Valley West 0

Wolf Pack Jake Howe threw for 190 yards and three touchdowns. Howie Shiner rushed for 125 yards and a touchdown as Wilkes-Barre Area pitched a shutout of Wyoming Valley West. Spartans quarterback Lucas Zdancewicz rushed for 44 yards. The Wolf Pack will play Nazareth in the 6A Subregional Playoffs. Valley West ends their season at 1-9.

Scranton 35 Wallenpaupack 14

Knights quarterback Billy Maloney had 109 yards in the air with two touchdowns. He also added 40 rushing yards and a touchdown as Scranton defeated Wallenpaupack. Buckhorns running back Dylan Podrazil rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns. Scranton plays at Abington Heights in the District 2 5A Semifinals. Wallenpaupack travels to Dallas in the District 2 4A Quarterfinals.

Dunmore 42 West Scranton 19

Bucks running back Jacob Hickey had 81 yards on the ground and a touchdown. Quarterback Thomas Bowen added a rushing touchdown as Dunmore clinched the number 1 seed in the District 2 2A Playoffs. The Invaders’ Hunter Baumgardner had touchdowns rushing, receiving and passing. Dunmore plays Susquehanna in the District 2 2A Semifinals at home. West Scranton ends their season at 2-8.

Montrose 40 Holy Redeemer 0

The Meteors finished their season with a shutout victory at home over Holy Redeemer. The Royals finish their season at 0-10.

North Pocono 27 Crestwood 10

Trojans quarterback Noah West threw for 189 yards and a touchdown. He also added a rushing touchdown as North Pocono defeated Crestwood. The Comets Eli Meadows had the team’s only touchdown. North Pocono will play at Wyoming Area in the District 2 4A Quarterfinals. Crestwood hosts Nanticoke in the District 2 4A Quarterfinals.

Wyoming Area 35 Pittston Area 14

Warriors running back Aaron Crossley rushed for 349 yards and four touchdowns as Wyoming Area defeated rival Pittston Area. Patriots quarterback Drew DeLucca threw for 166 yards and two touchdowns. Wyoming Area will host North Pocono in a District 2 4A Quarterfinal matchup. Pittston Area will travel to Delaware Valley for the District 2 5A Semifinals.

Williamsport 33 Tunkhannock 0

Millionaires quarterback Caleb Williamson threw for 193 yards and three touchdowns and Semaj Hale had a rushing and receiving touchdowns as Williamsport defeated Tunkhannock at home. Tigers running back Logan Ross rushed for 52 yards. Williamsport will travel to Parkland for the 6A Subregional Quarterfinals. Tunkhannock ends their season at 4-6.

Berwick 39 Hazleton Area 34

Bulldogs running back Tyler Winter rushed for 111 yards and three touchdowns. Quarterback Ethan Lear added 122 yards and a touchdown as Berwick defeated Hazleton Area. Cougars wideout Zander Coleman had five catches for 95 yards and a touchdown. He also added two rushing touchdowns. Berwick will travel to Valley View for the District 2 4A Quarterfinals. Hazleton Area ends their season with a 2-8 mark.

Lackawanna Trail 46 Susquehanna 0

Lions running back Lukas Gumble rushed for 143 yards and two touchdowns. He also added a receiving touchdown as Lackawanna Trail completed their undefeated season with a shutout victory over Susquehanna. The Lions play Old Forge in the District 2 Single-A Championship game. Susquehanna plays top seeded Dunmore in the District 2 2A Semifinals.

Mid Valley 28 Lakeland 17

Spartans running back Jakob Lesher rushed for 210 yards and four touchdowns as Mid Valley defeated Lakeland. Chiefs quarterback David Naniewicz threw for 156 yards and a touchdown. Mid Valley plays Riverside in the District 2 2A Semifinals. Lakeland ends their season at 1-9.

Nanticoke 54 Hanover Area 0

Trojans running back Zack Fox rushed for 172 yards and three touchdowns and Ryan Wiaterowski added a rushing touchdown as Nanticoke defeated rival Hanover Area. Hawkeyes quarterback Al-Quron Michel threw for 46 yards. Nanticoke will travel to Crestwood for the District 2 4A Quarterfinals. Hanover Area will play top seeded Scranton Prep in the District 2 3A Semifinals.

Old Forge 33 Carbondale 10

Blue Devils running back Cael Krushnowski rushed for 142 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback TJ DiMattia threw for 125 yards and three touchdowns as Old Forge defeated Carbondale. Chargers running back Daniel Gonzalez rushed for 75 yards and a touchdown. Old Forge plays Lackawanna Trail for the District 2 Single-A Crown. Carbondale ends their season at 2-8.

Western Wayne 35 Honesdale 20

Wildcats running back Josh Vinton had 205 yards and two touchdowns. Vinton also had a punt 47 yards for a touchdown as Western Wayne defeated Honesdale. Hornets quarterback Aiden Collins had two rushing touchdowns. Western Wayne plays Lake-Lehman in the District 2 3A Semifinals. Honesdale ends their season with a 3-7 mark.

Dallas 56 Lake-Lehman 8

Mountaineers running back Dylan Geskey scored three rushing touchdowns and Mike Lewis added a rushing touchdown as Dallas finished the regular season undefeated with a victory over Lake-Lehman. Keegan Bennett scored the lone touchdown for the Black Knights. Dallas is the top seed and will host Wallenpaupack in the District 2 4A Quarterfinals. Lake-Lehman will travel to Western Wayne in the District 2 3A Semifinals

Riverside 56 Holy Cross 0

Vikings quarterback Chase Taddonio threw for 151 yards and five touchdowns. Wideout Reese Gaughan caught three touchdown passes as Riverside defeated Holy Cross. Crusaders running back Kevin Vincent rushed for 67 yards. Riverside will travel to Mid Valley in a District 2 2A Semifinal. Holy Cross ends their season at 3-7.

Delaware Valley 42 Abington Heights 7

Warriors running back Ryder Machado rushed for 193 yards and three touchdowns. Logan Olsommer threw a touchdown pass to Kyle Chabak as Delaware Valley took the Lackawanna Football Division 1 Crown with a victory at Abington Heights. Delaware Valley hosts Pittston Area in a District 2 5A Semifinal. Abington Heights plays Scranton in a District 2 5A Semifinal.

Scranton Prep 26 Valley View 6

Cavaliers quarterback Louis Paris rushed for 123 yards and four touchdowns. He also added 132 yards in the air as Scranton Prep defeated Valley View. Domenic Memo threw a touchdown pass to Kyle Rupp for the Cougars only touchdown. Scranton Prep will host Hanover Area in the District 2 3A Semifinals. Valley View will host Berwick in the District 2 4A Quarterfinals.
