Even though Protime did extensive travelling this football season, he had the privilege of seeing half the D9 football teams play this year, and some, more than once. Protime plans to hopefully get to watch at least two additional teams in the playoffs and maybe more. D9 has upped their game in Protime’s opinion and he has been blessed to see some pretty good future college talent in the past couple years. Good luck to everyone participating in the playoffs.
Here are the top performers of the week, along with a couple other tidbits:
Quarterbacks:
- Jase Ferguson, Central Clarion, threw 3 touchdown passes against 6A Butler and, in doing so, became the D9 all-time touchdown pass leader with 138. The old mark of 137 was held by Port Allegany’s Matt Bodamer, who is currently the head coach at Kane. Jase actually rushed for more yards than passed last week. His total yards running the ball was 212 which included a TD to make 4 scores he accounted for. Ferguson had the most TD tosses in PA during the regular season with 41. He was 5th in yardage (2,486).
- Trey Wingard, DuBois, threw for 211 yards and 3 TDs. Wingard tied for #2 in pass yardage (2,676) in the state and tied for 3rd in TD passes with 33.
- Aiden Patton, Brockway, was 15 of 16 passing for 348 yards and 5 TDs. Patton was 4th in PA in pass yardage with 2,575.
- Owen Bish, Union-AC Valley, accounted for 5 TDs, 3 passing, 2 rushing.
- Braylon Wagner, Redbank Valley, threw for 227 yards and 3 touchdowns, plus he ran for 2 more scores. Wagner was 10th in the state in passing yards and 6th in TD passes with 30.

- Trent Beachem, Moniteau, passed for 339 yards and 4 TDs.
- Dom Corcetti, Keystone, accounted for 325 all-purpose yards with 155 scrambling around the field. He also accounted for 4 TDs with 3 being courtesy of his running prowess.
Running Backs:
- Michael Gerg, Ridgway, ran for 227 yards and 3 touchdowns.
- Teammate Rocco Delhunty, rushed for 150 yards and scored 4 TDs.
- Drew Keth, Keystone, scored 5 touchdowns, 3 via the run, 1 on a pass reception, and the 5th on a punt return.

- Brady Collins, Clearfield, finished with 2,266 yards for the year and that was good for 3rd in PA. He was second in points scored and total TDs (37).

Interesting Tidbits:
- Central Clarion, Clearfield, and Port Allegany finished the 2024 regular season 10-0. It was the second year in a row Central Clarion accomplished that feat. The last regular season loss for the Wildcats was October 28, 2022 when Redbank Valley defeated them 47-38.
- For the Bison of Clearfield it was their 10th undefeated regular season, the first under current coach Myles Caragein. Tim Janocko’s squads had 8 of those 10 unbeaten regular season teams. Janocko coached Clearfield from 1985 until the end of the 2022 season.
- Port Allegany now has 8 undefeated regular seasons if a 5-0 season is counted from early in their history. The Gators’ last perfect regular season occurred when Matt Bodamer was the quarterback in 2012.
- Karns City, as a team, outgained St. Marys 344-53 in only two quarters of football. The Flying Dutch did not come out of the locker room to play the second half.
- Ridgway and Moniteau accounted for close to 900 yards of offense in their game won by the Elkers. Ridgway rushed for 484 yards.
- Central Clarion leads the state of PA in scoring offense averaging 56.7 points a game. Port Allegany is 4th in the state averaging 52.3.
